: Ford HP44 into TJ: 19sp vs Warn 27sp Stub Shafts

Hi guys,

I'm really looking hard at putting a Ford F-250 or F-150 Super Cab HP Dana 44 under my TJ. I'm planning on narrowing it to run Rubicon or Waggy Chromo Inners. I'm not really after High Steer, I can live without it.

From all of the searching i've done on here it seems that getting 30 Spline Stubs into a Dana 44 is almost impossible without going to the Warn CJ Dana 30 Hub Conversion swapped on the HP 44.

So here is my thoughts on this. I'm currently running a TJ LP Dana 30 with a Warn 5"-4.5" Hub Conversion. I know that Dana 30 Knuckles aren't exactly great, but would it be worth my while to swap some TJ Knuckles onto the HP 44 and bring the Warn Hub Conversion over to the HP 44?

It would save me the hastle of redrilling my 8.8 to 5"-5.5" and I would speculate that the 27 Spline Warn Stubs are stronger than 19 Spliners....

Your guys thoughts?

Scotty

the hassle to swap over knuckles is much worse than redrilling rotors. i dont know much about the 27 spliners but i think you will be just fine with them if your still concerned about running the 5x4.5 bolt circle. get some warn outers and call it good, you probably wont ever break them from the sound of it. that and ive also heard bad things about the hub conversion. get warn premium hubs on the new axle and you will be better off

If you look at it, the hub will break before the 19 spline stub shaft. If you are running slugs then it would be a different issue. If I am correct the 19 spline stub shaft is bigger in diameter then the dana 30 stub shaft.

For me, the ideal setup would be me fragging a Warn Flange Mounted Hub long before Axle Shafts or a Ring and Pinion. So really you answered that question for me.

WRT the Stub Shafts, 19 Spline Dana 44's are 1.25". I'm gonna pull a Wheel and measure my 27 Spline Outters EDIT: Stubs are 1.17"ish.

I found a really cheap donor HP 44 from a 78 F-150, and I have a spare TJ Dana 30. I'm just gonna pull the tubes from both, and swap the TJ ones into the HP D-44 Center Section. I know its not the ideal "Pirate Approved" setup, but I like it. And i'll keep my 9 Rims with the weak small pattern :)

Thanks
