does anyone know if a late 80's model 10 bolt front inner shafts will work on a early model d44, both are from 3/4 chevy's?

NO, the 10 bolt has 28 splines and the d44 comes with 30 splines...

They are the same size, but different spline count. I have a couple 10 bolt shafts that I'm going to have cut down and resplined for my 44.

You can have them cut down but they are not the same spline or diameter after the neck down at the splines.

The outers are the same but the 10 bolt outer doesnt have the ring in the end to hold the clip for the locking hubs.

They do make 30 spline 10's but the pressure angle of the splines is cut at a different angle so if I remember correctly you can fit a 44 in a 30 spline 10 bolt but not the 10 in the 44. So the answer is I't might fit but won't really work unless you are looking for trouble.

ok, thanks for the info, i got some inners for a 10-bolt for free and i have a 44 that doesn't have a carrier in it yet (workin on it), just gonna see if they would work for spares

I thought corp 10" where 30 spline and 44's could be 28 or 30.

44's are either 30 or I think either 10 or 19. can't remember exactly but I know its not 28
