A recent trip to the local pick a part, scored me a mirror with a compass out of a '93 olds Bravada.
My problem is I cant figure out how to calibrate it, It has a button up by the mount, and when you hold it for a few seconds it flashes (cali) but I cant seem to ever get it set right?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You have to turn something like three times in a tight circle to get them to calibrate. I am not sure if it is different between GM products but in my old Blazer, that is what I had to do. I cant remember if you have to do that while holding the button down or what the steps are. I would try holding the button down and turning or then pressing it to a set mode, if it has that doing the circles and then pressing it again, sorry I cant be more help

When you push and hold the Calibrate button on the mirror for 3 seconds it will flash.. To change zones just push the button to the number that matches what zone you're in.. That is what gives you a true North heading..

Ok this isnt working I hold the button until it flashes ,calibrate, it flashes for 5 seconds then flashes CAL N for almost a minute, while its doing this it dosnt matter if you push the butten it keeps flashing. And no matter how many circles I drive in while it flashes it never calibrates.

this link to my compass install should help some, http://www.offroad-tech.com/forum/showthread.php?p=27217#post27217
also what you are probably wanting to do is force it into calibration mode as right now it doesn't want to calibrate properly for you. to force it to calibrate you need to hold the "comp" button down for somewhere around 20 sec, when you hold it for 5 sec you can change the zone, but just keep holding it down until it goes into calibration mode and then do the drive in circles thing.
p.s. finally another montana person, i'm currently up at bozeman for college.

When I had one that needed calibrating, I did in the grocery parking lot. Get it to cali mode. drive counterclockwise 3x's and stop, pulling straight pointing to the north. wait a few seconds it would flash north and all was complete. Also you can't do this around power lines it will affect the calibration.
