okay well im having problems again with wiring up the alternator...after i swapped the motor there is very little of the stock harness left and now my alternator no longer charges...ive tried 4 alternators ive had laying around so its a problem in my system im going to assume now. its an 84 Bronco II...and basically the stock harness is gone. my friend has a wiring chart for his 73 F250 which shows stator and field to the regulator and stuff ect....can i wire mine up this way with the B2 regulator..do i need a new regulator?? which wire goes where....ect.

If it were me I would put a 3g 130amp in or a higher amp gm less wires and if you know somebody at a scrap yard they may swap 3 of the old alts for one of the 3g's. search 3g or go to fullsizebronco.com it has a ton of info on the swap

3G or external reg. large case 1G from a tarus, (100 amp). Yes (the 1G) wires up the way the wiring diagram shows. Usually 3-4 wires hooked up at the regulator. One is constant, one recieves switched power, the other sends 12V to the alt telling it to charge. Easy money. (or do like everyone else does and convert to a one wire GM.)

If your regulator fries, and you need your battery to charge, you can hook direct 12V to your alternator (the term called full field IRC) It will make your alternator put out full power. (use this method as well to see if your 4 alternators are any good) You can get away with it for a while till your battery is charged, or you smoke something(battery usually). Your best bet is to run every power accessory you can if you have to do this, to bring down the voltage some.

I personally prefer the externally regulated alternators. If the regulator goes bad, you replace it, instead of the alternator.
