hello all,

Just wondering what most of you are cruising at down the highway?
I'm a little on the high side and just wondering if I should be concerned with the RPM situation.

I'm running Approx. 3500 RPM @ 65 PMH ( 35" SSR w/ 5.13 gears ---D44s)

I know 4 cyl. turn that all day long but I'm just wondering about the motor, tranny and drive shafts.

Obviously I can drive slower but on a long trip it's nice to know you can go at least 60 MPH all day.

You're going to be burning up gas ($$) but if the motor is in good nick it shouldn't be a problem. the reciprocating assembly of these motors like to rev but the heads, intake and cam are all tuned down for truck application. i think valve float comes on around 5 grand based on my experiences with a couple of hill / mud assaults this past summer

Dont' know where you're at geographically, but if it's hot there you probably want to make sure you've got an accurate temp gauge.

That sounds about right for cruising 75 ish with 35s. My truck would get 14 mpg regardless of speed towing ect so I ran those rpms almost everytime I was on the highway. Those rpms are fine.

Thing I had to get used to with the Rover V8 (after messing around with mouse motors) is that it really likes the high rpms. I couldn't drive a stick shift at first, because I kept wanting to upshift way to early.
