What is involved in swapping a 351W in place of my factory 302 EFI? Would it be easier to get a different 302 and if so what motors can I use to replace this? I have a 302 out of like a early 90's Town car but I'm not sure if it would work and I was thinking of going with a 351 because my underpowered 302 is sluggish and gets about 10 mpg. Any input would be appreciated.

the 351 wont give you many more mpg but will give you HP if its built right. id go with the 351 and ditch that 302. dunno bout the swap tho.

all depends on what you run. IMO I like the 302 more. Just because it's more of an RPM motor

The intake is different and you'd need a 351 computer or tuner. You'd find all you need for this swap by searching here or on http://www.Fullsizebronco.com

all you have to do for the swap is plug and play, youll need the computer fromthe 351, but all the sensors are the same. if you went with the 302 swap from the town car, you would neeed to swap the oil pans, but once again, plug and play,

Are you swapping just because it gets 10mpg and is sluggish? How many miles? Sure it doesen't have some other problem like a spent tranny or vacuum leaks or something?

You can use the same computer if you want. I did and it ran fine. I ended up swapping out for a 351 computer and it didn't change anything I could notice.

from what ive heard, the stock computer cant comprehend the added 50 cis, so it runs lean, or it reverts to closed loop, and does default settings. just what ive heard.

I know plenty of people running mustang 5.0 computers with 351 windsors without problems. But to get the most out of it you need to tune it. But it will run and drive just fine with a 302 computer from what i have seen

That being said i have a 351 computer being shipped to my house as i type. Better safe than sorry
