I have been Wenzeled by Steve Gardner [Archive]

This didn't take place with a memeber on here.
I sent Steve Gardner AKA "THE BEAST" $1,000 for a HP Dana 60 and an extra $500 for parts for the axle plus some coil buckets for him to weld on. Well I never received the axle. Steve claimed the guy he was getting the axle from took the money and never gave him the axle. He said that he had taken action against the guy and he would get my money back. I was understanding and I waited.
Then I asked him for the $500.00 I gave him for the extra parts. He never said what he did with the money and I still haven't received it. I have sent him several emails and even talked to him a few times and he keeps making excuses. I have all the email saved from before I sent him the money and after he received the money.
Every time I sent him an email he just replies that he is gonna start send me money soon. Well its been almost 2 years I am fed up with it. In the past 2 years he has built a nice little Toyota truck and done some things to his Dodge.

He is a member of Lockitupoffroad.com and lives in Mobile AL. He is also in the Coast Guard. He gave me these numbers 1-251-649-2299 and 251-533-2275 to call him at but they have been disconnected.

Im not too up to date on the Coast Guard, however in the Air Force we have a guy called a "First Sergent" who handles matters like these. He is sort of a liason between law enforcement at various organizations. I would try to get ahold of his Unit and inform them that he has basically comitted fraud. Im not too certain they can punish him or force him to pony up the cash, however this reflects negatively on him in the eyes of his superiors and might assist somehow in your favor. Feel free to e-mail whomever may listen at his home station (not sure what the coast guard call it) and that is proof enough that he owes you something.
The Air Force routinely mandates early retirement from even two star Generals based off of simple E-mail transcripts, like insubordination, Adultery, scandals etc.....so they can hold water in court etc....

#2 This didn't happen on this board or even with a member on here? How do you suggest anything be resolved with this post? He can't post his side of the story (not suggesting that you are lying but there are always two sides).

I live in CA, so that's not an option. I just find it amazing that you have sat idle waiting for $1500 for 2 years when you live in the same state. Are you afraid of confrontation and the only way you are able to communicate is through the intardnet? Can you actually get up off your couch?

Big plus 1 on this one. I really don't appreciate the way Madram inserted our club name into this.
We have stressed, and stressed again on our main site how Steve Gardner's personal business transactions are not related to Lockitup offroad in any way or manner
I'm sure I don't know the whole story behind their transaction, but just like here, when he posted on our site complaining about it, he got the same advice..And that would be to drive himself down to Mobile and knock on the door! I know I would!
Any normal/reasonable person I know of would be pounding on someone's door over 1500 dollars, hell I would even if I knew I'd get my ass whipped out in the front yard simply because this is 1500 dollars we are talking about!

That's the whole angle to this story that I do not understand.. Why hasn't madram done this? And it's gone on for 2 years? We've definately told him this..

Well, let me lay it out for you then..First off, I'm not really sure when he leaves and when he gets back from deployment. The nature of his unit is the fact that his schedule changes alot and on moments notice due to it's mission, plus, even if I knew his schedule it would be a violation of comsec security for me to tell you.. But I will offer you this. I might have said it on my board:

1. You live in driving distance..Come knock on his door. I will mediate it if need be.

2. I know this from experience of being stiffed myself: You can go to almost any attorney's office and the fee is around 100 bucks. Get them to do up an official letter stating your intent to bring him into small court claims in addition to other costs you incure through the legal system with a deadline in which he needs to pay in full money owed. The lawyers office will have it sent certified to his address. This in itself works well with the majority of the people in scaring them into just making it right as it did with a mechanic that stiffed me on an engine rebuild warranty..

3. Just straight bring him into small claims court. Last I knew of it was only a 70 dollar filing fee to get a date in court and it would be super easy with you since you are in Alabama.

4. Above all.. show up and knock on his door! This is very simple.. I'm not too modivated to help you if you can't help yourself by doing something this simple. Granted you might not know his schedule, but I know when I would come down if it were me.. Endurance ride week.. Then you can fist fight in the front yard and get some good 4wheeling in at the same time! lol!

Madram, I feel for you, my gut tells me that he stiffed you, but for real man..come down and settle it face to face with him! I live two streets over from him, you can come by my place and I will personally take you there, I have a feeling the shit will get settled..

Two totally different people here. I wrote that write up.

As to the gayness, it wasn't gay. I was pissed off at the world and it was a constant struggle trying to finish what I had jumped into....remember, I was the first to put a stock '79 Ford HPD60 in. there were two others that had put in Dynatracs before me...but none did the job themselves and went stock for stock. Steve kept pushing me on and encouraging me....yeah, I mighta finished it fine without him. But, I know that his support helped a great deal. Even though Steve and I have had our fallings out also, I still give credit where it is due.

Same thing happened to my buddy He gave a guy 2500 for a Vortech blower for a mustang the guy tried to give him a blower and bracketry for a 460 as the same So I told him go get your money or your blower a month later he Bitched out. I went over there with him and TOld the guy where is the blower or the money. He said 2 weeks. I let my buddy handle his own shit andn needless to say he never received his money to this day it has been 2 years now. We ran in to him about 2 months ago I told my buddy Get your ass over there and get your fucking money NOW! he wouldn't he said OH OH I'l take care of it my own way. I told you are little bitch I told him Just tell me I can keep half And I will get your money hell I told him just tell me you want me to get your money and I will. He said no no I'll take care of it. SOme people just don't like confrontation, I don't look for trouble but get with the program.

But, having somebody like that in your club makes the club as a whole look bad.. I think the legal term is "Guilty by association" Greg seems like a stand up guy and I'm sure you might be too but that is why you should distance your self away from people that will make you look bad even though you haven't done anything wrong.. I'm sure most members of the club are good people but as the old saying goes people that don't know you will judge you by the company you keep..

You have to be careful about the idea of confronting him, if the shit hits the fan you could end up in jail. I would suggest taking him to small claims court for the money + your expenses or just hiring a lawyer. Then if you don't get your money go for a visit.

FYI For anyone who cares..

Steve has been removed from the club "lockitupoffroad" due to this matter and others that have since surfaced. All ties between Lockitupoffroad and Steve Gardner have been terminated.

I hope he takes this as a lesson well learned and I do believe things have been cleared up with Madram.

That seems like a smart move on your and the the clubs end because you guys seem like a good bunch of fellas and you certainly don't need anybody like that bringing down the group as a whole :beer:

From what I have heard about the guy and seen him post on various sites, he seems like a real knowledgeable guy and has helped out many people over the years when it comes to trucks and parts.. It's sad that he had to go the way of a shady route and start crooking people for whatever reason he may have.. There is no acceptable reason to ever treat your friends or fellow wheelers that you have any money transactions with that way.. Maybe one day he will realize his mistakes and learn from it, but in most cases like this by then you have burnt to many bridges and are stuck on the far side alone..

if someone is in the military and they did something like this...just contact a locator and if you find him or his Unit that he is assigned to you can get him in SERIOUS trouble by telling them what he has done. He can have his rank, money, and freedom taken away from him.
In the MArines you just contact ones CO or XO or Sergeant Major and believe me the problem will be taken care of. Also, you can contact his base legal or legal of the type of service he is in and he can get NJP or "Non Judicial Punishment" where he goes up infront of his CO(Commanding Officer) and he can sentence him to all sorts of special fun.:smokin:

It's like I've told a couple of members I've talked to about this..Some people are uncontrollable porn addicts..I guess there should be a mental condition for being an uncontrollable fucking folks for money addict category too
