well when he bought it the guy had already made a hi-steer arm for it. I dont know how much i would trust that tiny little (kingpin) 4 bolt pattern to mount a arm though....??

Look at Toy truck arms. :D:D:D Same thing.
Matter of fact, knuckle looks like a Toy axle and a 44 had a half breed kid.

Looks like a Ford open knuckle, kingpin axle that has been converted to disc brakes using Chevy 1/2 ton parts? Just a guess...

Sorry been searching and no luck, but I am sure his truck is a late ‘70’s Ford for his work truck. Anyway, G-Dark is right, look at Toy arms, almost looks the same and hell they are some beefy stuff what I have :D

it's an early 70's F150 axle, with chevy brakes swapped on... I don't know the exact years of useage, but my 71 ford truck manual shows that style for the f-150's.

is it strong? or not worth swapping in a Jeep?

Yes it is definately a ford axle with Chevy brakes, from late 60's or early 70's. It origonally used 260 series ujoint in the axles same as a dana 30. The yokes are forged the same size as a normal 44 so you can ream them to 1-3/16 for 297 or equivalent ujoints. Some people say that the center section casting is not as thick or rigid as the later 78/79 high pinion cner section, but there are many people running these in custom built high pinion 44's and I haven't seen a ring and pinion failure in any of those. If that axle has the stock outer axle shafts they will not seal properly with the disc brake chevy spindles, unless a spacer is used, if you ream out the inner axle shafts for the 297's you can swap to the newer outers that will have the right size shoulder for the seal and the snap ring groove in the right place for the lockout hubs. It looks from the picture like that axle already has the larger ujoints but it is hard to tell. 1-1/16 cap is the 260 or equivalent. 1-3/16 is the 297, or equivalent. Also the long side inner axle shafts neck down more than on the later 44's they are the style that you can't narrow.

Sounds like what alot of people do to Nissans when they swap in a solid front. Ford Housing with Chevy outers. Ford housing because of the driver's side drop, and the Chevy outers for the 6 lug Chevy bolt pattern so they can keep the wheels from the Nissan IFS.
