OK here is what I need to decide, I have a HP D44 Ive spent a couple hundred on it already. Well I won a set of nice u joint. Its suggested to run stronger axle shafts with these u-joint. So I would need to spend more money on the D44. Also I found my hummer rims hit the steering arms. Solution includes buying spacers and/or high steer arms with hummer rim bends.
So new shafts, high steer arms, machine work for the knuckles, start to add up to a pretty good chunk of change.
So I start thinking I should go for D60 front right? Well, after a little reading I find the same part I have for my D44 and the needed parts, would cost around 2400 for a D60 version. For that kind of money I could get some beefer axles already geared and locked. Maybe some Rockwell or Mogs.
Lets say I do a replacement for the D44. Well I may as well replace the rear, right? There isn't much money spent on it. But now my expense increases more.
Right now for the front HP D44 I have new:
760 u joint
CTM u-joint
ball joint
gears
install kit
gear oil
Chevy 8 lug outer
lock right locker
Things I would need new:
axle shafts (both inners and outer)
1" wheel spacers
knuckle machine work
high steer arms
for the rear I have:
new disk conversion brackets
rotors
pads
caddy calipers (e-brake type)
parts needed:
gears
locker
install kit
So, should I sell the parts I have and start looking to upgrade. Or continue to try and upgrade the D44.
