Just another axle question, Can stock jeep axles work on a Zukie??? I will be putting in new gears and lockers. The axles should hold up to a 35" tire without busting right?
Thanks

The front diff is on the wrong side. the rear diff is centered

The diff is only on the wrong side on YJ's and TJ's, but I think he meant CJ axles (they have the diff on the passenger side). As far as the rear being centered, it doesn't really matter. There are a bunch of guys on this board running toy axles, which happen to have a centered rear diff also. Just use a CV joint on the driveshaft for the compound angle. :flipoff2: ~Steve

if i'm not mistaken......the lowest gear ratio available for the 30 and 35 ain't that low.....something like 4.88:1

Yes i know the centered rear diff will work, if done correctly. And i didn't say it wouldn't work, a friend of mine runs that setup on his zuk. CJ, yeah i think i saw one in person once ;) all i see around my area are TJ's, with the diff on the srong side, my bad

Just stay away from that d@am 35C. We are all sick and tired of draggin' those things out! C-clips suck!:)

Remember you will be getting a Dana 30 up front (260 joint and 27 spline axles). While much stronger than a Sami front, probably not quite as strong as a Toy birfield. It's not a D44 by any means.. If you use an AMC20 for the rear, make sure it's one piece axles. Otherwise, they are quit strong for a Sami. Don't worry about the offset (or lack of). As long as both U-joints are at the same angle the vibration cancels out. So if you put the axle in straight (no built in crab walk :p ), everything will be cool. You can't do a CV unless you do both ends (bad idea). The CV works if you put all the angle on the CV joint and the other end is nearly straight (ie penion pointed at the CV)!
