being a 79 it can't be a 289, production stopped in 68. Do you have a pic? are the valve covers rounded on the ends with 6 bolts? if so it is a 302/5.0 L or 351w/5.8 L. If they are more rectangular with I think 7 bolts, it is a 351m - 400

The picture is fuzzy, it's either a 302 or a 351w. If the firing order on the intake manifold is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 it's a 302 a 351w firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 This should clarify it for you. Jim

Sweet great news I got a 351w firing order is 13726548, now I Have to figure out what I want to build, I have a 1995 jeep wrangler, the 1977 ford f150, and a 2000 ford f150,

Jeep plans go - rebuild the ford 351w and put it, tranny transfer and axles into my jeep and have one bad buggy. sell body and rest of rust free truck to pay for extra goodies. Lockers gears and other goodies.

1977 ford plans go - Rebiuld 351w , lift, and regear and lock out axles and winch maybe paint, sell jeep to pay for it.

2000 ford f150 plans go - Regear and lock out axles 4:10 or 4:58 (Ford 1/2 Ton front Truetrac and rear Detroit locker only $1299.99) buy new bumper (Bull Bar -winch capable (Ford) 1175.99) buy warn 9500 ti winch 989.99 or m12000 warn winch $1,149.99) sell jeep and other 1977 ford to buy parts and extra stuff for it. I will not pay those prices above but gives an idea I have to keep this one no matter what.
