Hi there,

I want to put bigger tires onto the RRC than the 265/75-16 itīs currently riding on. And while Iīm gathering the money and the BFG-AT have a few miles left in them Iīm trying to find out what to choose.

I have 2" of lift, wouldnīt mind to get another 1.5-2" by means of a body lift BUT I donīt want flares. Though I do want to get as good a turning circle as possible. I could do a little cutting if necessary.

Ideally Iīd be on 35" but you only get them that wide (12.50") and that would deminish the turning circle or demand wide-offset-rims and thus flares.

Therefore I think Iīd settle for 33" tires, i.e. 285/75-16 or 255/85-16. Again the 255/85 would be better for the turning circle and superior off road but the choice of profiles is effectively restricted to the BFG-MT (speed index Q and known qualitiy). The 285s have a good choice of profiles, but are wider again and turning circle must be worse, sadly.

Now (coming to the end!):

Can you advise me, what offset a 7" rim needs to have with 285s to put the tyre outwards as much as possible without giving the need for flares ????
Iīd really like to regain a little turning circle. Well, at least it shouldnīt become worse that what I have with 265/75-16 on stock 7x16 (ET+33mm which equals to +1.29"offset)-rims (the common 3-spoke Vogue alloys).

I had flares, but not really legally necessary, but prevented a bit of mud splashes, but not all...

Edit: I was really happy with that setup. Sniff.

2" Lift + 2" body lift + 1" front spacers, 1.5" rear spacers. 285/75/16 Super Swamper SSR's (33.9" dia, 11.3" width) on stock 3 spoke 16"x7" alloys.

As you can see in the first pic (sorry for the driveway pics), there is not much room for a more offset rim without using flares to cover up the tire, I assume you have to do this where you are. Turning radius is reduced significantly, but I got used to it.
