: Bought a 1995 Suburban, need info on what axle, tranny, ratios, etc. its got.
Redneck7 01-08-2006, 05:25 PM I just bought a 1995 Suburban and want to know what tranny, transfer case, rear axle, front diff, ring and pinion ratios, etc that are on it. Its a 1995 1500, 350, 4wd, auto, non-autotrack. Any info on what its got or how to figure it out would be greatly appreciated. This is my first Chevy.
Thanks,
Ryan
Red Chevy 01-08-2006, 05:45 PM The tranny is a 4L60E, 10 bolt rear, 241 t-case, 8.25 front, 3.42 or 3.73 gears.
Redneck7 01-08-2006, 06:32 PM thanks, that was easy. I'm pretty sure its 3.42 because it has 33" tires on it and on WV hills (steep grades, but the 4cyl civic beside me was having no trouble) it went from 75ish mph down to 60mph with the pedal on the floor. :barf:

Stuckle 01-08-2006, 09:36 PM nppde it will have 3.73 gears in it
tranny might still be a 700r4 too...not sure if 95 or 96 was the frist year of thre 4l60e...but i think it came with the vortec's in 96...
Redneck7 01-08-2006, 09:42 PM Yeah, from what I've gathered I got the first year of the newer tranny, but the last year of the TBI/non-Vortec. I know for a fact it was 96 that they went to Vortecs, but if its got 3.73 gears, then do I have some sort of problem or would it be normal not to be able to pull 33s up a hill with the pedal on the floor?
-Ryan
derail 01-08-2006, 09:46 PM that burb could very well have a 700r4. i dont think the 4l60 was put behind the non vortec motors. and 33' s shouldnt bog down that truck that much at all.
Whifflebat 01-08-2006, 09:50 PM It should have a 4l60e. My '94 blazer has a 4l60e, I dunno why they wouldn't have them in '95. It should be able to pull those hills better though. Mine, although lighter, will pull most hills without even dropping out of overdrive or loosing speed. My guess is there is something wrong with the fuel system, like a dirty air cleaner, cracked exhaust manifold, or maybe a dead rat in the tbi :)
[Memphis] 01-08-2006, 10:24 PM tbi was just made to run, not designed to run good :smokin: lol
Redneck7 01-08-2006, 10:55 PM It has an exhaust leak from the drivers side rear of the engine...looks to be missing a stud or bolt. Once I fix that, if its still acting like it can't get out of its own way then I'll look in the throttle body for a dead rat. I'm thinking that at this point the rat is probably somewhere downstream, like clogging up the exhaust system.

well...check the fuel filter.
10 dollar part and it makes a huge difference.
your 94 has a 4l60e?
thats funny...i have a 92 full size and its got a 700, and my friends 94 full size has a 700 as well...
i think the 4l60e was put behind the vortec motors (96+). remember the 700 wasnt electronic...while the 4l60e and 80e's were fully electronic, which you lead me to belive they would throw those in with the newer vortec engines....
Red Chevy 01-09-2006, 05:32 AM Easiest way to tell, 4L60E has an electrical plug onpassenger side just behind the dipstick. Every were I have checked, the 700/4L60 was used up until 92, 93 was when the 4L60E was introduced. My 93 has a 4L60E in it, but that is not to say that the 4L60/700 wasn't put into a few more units.
Fuel filter would be the best place to start.
weaselzz 01-09-2006, 11:05 AM tbi is just weak power wise thats all. Its not your gears, just your engine. Haha that civic, if it was hopped up a little bit, probably made more power then you truck, lol.
KILLER"B"3 01-09-2006, 11:44 AM 92 was the last year the 700r4 was put into chevy veicles. In 93 the 4l60e were put in, and in 96 revised with the PWM solenoid.
