:p :p Anybody know anything about 229 v6's? I had a 80 'camino that burned, so I pulled the engine and trans and put them in my 79 Toy mini 4x4. It fit really sweet, but I had to replace the intake and carb. Were these engines ever injected? I put on an edlebrock performer intake and carb, but would like to go fi if I could Also since I'm a real dumbass when it come to electrical, could anybody tell me about how to wire the ignition/charging system? Any help will be greatly appreciated.:confused: :confused:

I am guessing that is the 3.7 liter engine? If so they didnt make crap for power, might as well go with a 4.3 if you want to run a v6 or even a buick 3.8.

not much you can do with the 229. since you have it bolted in the easiest route is go 4.3 fi

The 229 is the 305-based V6. ;)

4.3L TBI is possible. I would treat it as a runner to get your junk moving. Bolt on some stuff, get it all mounted in there, etc. Then you've paved the way for a 4.3L upgrade, and you can reuse your bolt-ons.

:D :D Thanks for the info! What's a good source for a 4.3 tbi? I'm guessing an s-10. Also, what would be the best year, and what other parts besides the engine do I need? Would it still bolt up to my turbo 350?:D :D

87-95 range of Astro/Safari, S10s, fullsize vans and pickups. HP numbers didn't change much (if at all) for the 4.3L TBI.

Get the TBI stuff from a manual trans rig if you want to run a trans/t-case without a VSS.

cheapest would be complete 88-90 astro. you can pick em up with a bed trans for 150- 300 bucks

the cheapest source would be a 88-90 astro with a bad trans. 150-300 bucks for whole van. u2slow is correct about the no vss issue though. find a wrecked pickup
