I scored a 60 finally and Im in the process of linking the front.

Plans
12" Fox coilovers triangulated uppers maybe slightly triangulated lowers, will see soon. Links to be around 32" long

Double ended full hydro steer, custom steering arms, I think these will be the first set by this new vendor... more on that when I get them (hopefully the end of the week) :grinpimp:

Im going to move the axle fwd on the truck a few inches I dont want to go more than 3" because well.... that would put me at 125" Ill be looking for larger tires soon.

Heres the 60 right outta the truck after I got it to the shop. More pics tommorow of progress....

this picture kinda represents why I want to move the front fwd. When i had the 39.5 Irok's on it, they would get into the inner fender (after I cut half it off even) pretty good... you can see I have plenty of room to move it fwd after I chopped the frontend .... I had planned to push the front fwd even back when i did that :D

Nah they are back on their intended rig... LOL

Last night I took the D44 out, took the leafs out and got the truck half setup stable to work on.

Cleared the axle tubes on the 60, started to clean the center chunk and painted the BTF diff cover Olive Drab :flipoff2:

This morning at 5:30am I went to the shop (Ive got Ton-itis and cant sleep) and measured out for the links and took inventory. Ive got enough DOM for the links and enough threaded inserts, going at lunch to p/u the rodends and tonight hopefully I can get the mounts half fabbed and the links built.

Ill get more pics too ...

Bout time you got with the ton program.:flipoff2:

I think you'll like ditching the leafs and the highly buffed 44. Leafs pissed me off one to many times and now I'm linked front and rear. So what for tires? 42 IROKs?

Trust me if funds would have been right when I built the truck the first time it wouldnt have had links from the start. I bet if you looked back , way back in the thread on when I started converting it to 4wd I initially said I was going to link it all the way around. Didnt have the extra funds to do it and I got the leafs for free :flipoff2:

Tires will be down the road.... Im going to be strapped money wise again once this is all done  One mod at a time man one mod at a time!! Id love to run a set of 42 TSL's eventually.

Heck yes ! LOL Your truck is lookin sick BTW nice job man

I cut the stock cradle/ engine crossmember out last night and a few other things, shackle hangers and nonsense that I needed to get out of the way to allow for some more room this time around. I also built the links last night, I didnt get a chance to get my rodends yesterday at lunch (I did however get my D44 shortside Yukon warrantied!! Anyone lookin for Chromos ??! )

Anyway, I forgot to take the camera with me last night in my mad flury to get to the shop so Ill have to try to remember to tonight. I do intend to have the front linked and under the truck by Sunday... so progress needs to stay steady !! :D

Got the rodends at lunch..

Been thinking... the engine cradle and A-Arm crossmember I cut out last night. Its left a really gay motor mount situation in my truck. I may not fix it now, but I think later down the road Im going to redo the motor mounts and use a bushing mount setup. Youll have to see the ugly crap left over to appreciate what Im talking about.... stupid 2wd trucks. I dont think it would really be a problem but it sure looks UGLY under the engine mounts right now. I did get the clearance for up travel Ive been needing though so Im cool with it for now. My rigs never been a show truck :flipoff2:

Why not tube the front like Brian's ZR2? Looks sweet and would free up even more space for links. And mostly looks sweet.:flipoff2:

yea, like Jamus said, make something like mine...

just cut the frame at the firewall and throw some tube in there...:flipoff2:

Tube rear, tube front, but keep about 6" of stock frame so you can still call it a truck.:flipoff2:

If I do that I have two problems.... One is pretty stupid but the comps that go on local down here specify stock frame... I still fall in that category and that puts me in a good class.

2: Takes more time and cost more money. I dont really need the extra room for links, Ive got plenty. That pic above is exactly what I was talkin about doing, using a bushing for the motor mount.

Anywho heres what it looks like under there.... UGLY !! LOL

I would cap off the frame with some 1/4 on plate then make a little tube U to attach them 2 together. Motor Mounts would be gravy with tube/bushings....Good luck

What ram is that Diddy?

Pdaddy
01-11-2006, 11:51 AM
Its a DE ram that Blacksheep10 (Kelly) scored a bunch of from a local guy in P town . Ben (mindenoffroad) is running one and also Heath is running/was running one. They are some kinda commercial use deal. BIG body and stupid stout and heavy. Ben and Kelly both have raved about Bens setup with it.

I stole it from Kelly last time I was up there... one day Ill owe him some money for it :flipoff2:

Admired my new sticker.....and my hot chrome trucker lady

Back to work... i was going to do a quadruple triple pass weld with Flux core like someone on the interweb told me was the best method....But Im lazy so I just did the same ol booty welds Ive been layin

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v621/Pdaddy/gussetclse.jpg

Top of gusset . I put some plate down off the tube to the spring perch on the Pass side to get more weld surface down on the axle at the ends. That way when Im flexed at on the curb at Sonic I wont tear anything up..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v621/Pdaddy/gussettoop.jpg

Overall view of were Im headed with it... The tubes are just notched and sitting in there un tacked if they look funny. Im going to close in the right side were there is like a little triangle lookin opening with plate as well I think.... again weld surface being the goal in that. Ive also though about putting a plate in the middle between both spreader tubes about a foot long.... thoughts??? I figured if I did that Id put some speedholes in it so it would look fast.

Wont be long now

I think he actually has a real job... and when he isnt at that he is at Rounders drinking to excess. I know a few weeks ago he started hot and heavy getting the sheep back together but I havent heard from him since.

Just thought I'd stop by and poop in this thread. :flipoff2:

Paul's building this thing ultra fast, I can't wait to see the abuse laid to it, I can't believe what he got away with when the 44 was under there. It's a miracle it held up as long as it did! Watching the TURDV on a 60 will be fun...:D

I spent most the fawkin night Sat grinding calipers... what a complete pain in the ass. Anyway that is done and I also have the truss completed... I took pics but didnt DL them. I ended up getting kinda creative and I made the bottoms of the truss look like little bomb fins.... it was one of those, that looks kinda cool what if I do this moments. Anyway I went with it and I am going to paint it accordingly just for shits. I would have all the links on it already but
1. I need another person to hold / help hold things
2. My wifes Bday was Sunday so I didnt even touch it. Next time I go work on it the links will be in there though. They are bolted to tabs its a plug and play situation with another set of hands to assist me.

Im dreading paying for the full detroit and the fittings and lines for the hydro, but Im damn anxious to get it together and see how it works out !!!
