I have an 1989 ford bronco. It has a 351w efi. It ran fine about four
months ago when I parked it. A few weeks ago i went to start it and it
cranked but wouldn't fire. I used some starting fluid and it fired up
but once the starting fluid wore off it died. Ater about five minutes
of this it ran on its own but real crappy and had no power. Then it
died again and that was it. Now it will only start and run with
starting fluid. It had a new fuel fiter put on right before it was
parked. I can hear the front pump working and I have gas going into the
fuel rail. Also I put in a new computer before I parked it as the old
one went bad and kept the injectors open 24/7 and filled the motor with
gas. I went from one extreme to the other. Any guesses as to why it
seems that no fuel is coming from the injectors?
Thanks
Jeremy

go buy a noid light from autozone and check for injector pulse. If you have that then check fuel pressure. If you have that then check for spark. Fix accordingly.

I have fuel pressure, around 35 psi nd it stays there after I stop cranking. I have spark becuase it runs with starting fluid do not know about injector pulse will try. If no pulse does that mean a bad computer?

say what? The pickup in the dizzy is out....is that something like forschnizzle my nizzle. j/k what is this pickup that you speak of? I am running out of ideas, but i was given a suggestion to double check grounds that if they are not grounded well everything else goes copute. I have tried pulling codes before but for some reason it always comes back with an error about the scanner not being connected or something similar. the original owner butcherd the wiring under the dash pretty good( i guess it was for an alarm). thanks for all the help. She will run again someday. Had a similar problem on a jeep wrangler and took it to the dealership and they just replaced wiring harness after next till it ran note an ecinomical approach for the wallet though.

TFI module sounds toasted. Mustangs do it all the time, they don't like temperature changes, theres a little electronic strip of film in there that likes to get crispy. Yours might be remote-mounted, check for wires coming off the distributor to the fender and plugged into a little box the size of a pack of gum. Bingo.

get a noid light and check for injector pulse. I'm tellin ya lad. If the injectors don't fire it may be the computer. If you have spark most likely the pickup in the dizzy is okay. (I think)
