I'm currently putting a Dana 300 in my zj but I am having a problem. It is the same spline count, the same mounting pattern, but when I go to install it doesn't seat all the way to the tranny. There is about an 1/8" gap between the two. I can't tell were it is bottoming out at when I put it on. So my ? is would it hurt if I was to make a spacer to make up the diference between the two, Also It looks that I'm getting about an 1 1/2" of spline contact is that enough.

You need a clocking ring. It will act as the spacer that you need. It will also allow you to put the t-case where you want it.

go2guy has my favorite clocking rings. Have purchased many of them from him.

Yeah its taken care of. I order go2guy's clocking ring and just used it as a spacer in the lowest hole. I would of had to hack the floor up to clock it up any and I didn't won't to do that yet, maybe at a later date I will to make it smooth underneath.

I know this thread is 2 years old but what kind of transmission came behind your 5.2? I am assuming the 46rh. I am looking at doing something similar. dana 300 behind my 5.2/46rh (stock) in my 93.
