Freind has a 351C (Same bolt pattern as 351m-400m I think) wants an auto for cruising/mud racing. A C-6 is preferable but would go C-4 if we can find an adapter, where should I look? Novak doesnt seem to have one and AA is $$$$$

Ford came with NP208's behind C6's, right? If the NP208 behind the C6 has the same bolt pattern as a Chevy NP208 then you could do this. I'm not 100% sure that it works but Rocky at Essentially offraod claims that he has done it. He says that you can take an NP208 adapter and drill it to work with a d300 by using the same spud shaft that you would get from AA or Novak. He does it with TH350's, so I'm not 100% sure that it would work on a Ford. But It's a start and if it worked, it would be hella-cheaper than AA or Novak. Last time I talked to him he even had one used for sale for $25!

i have a th400 that had a np208 behind it. i used a 32spline adapter shaft in my d300 and bolted it up to the stock 208 adapter. only one hole didn't line up so only one hole needs to be drilled. worked out pretty good when i got my atlas too. i just ordered the atlas with the 32spline input shaft and it bolted right up.

A 351C uses the small block bell housing (ala 302-351W). You can run a C4, but a moderately built Cleveland will tear it up with little trouble. If you want to run an auto then I would go with a C6.

That's right, 351C is the same as 302, 351W. The 351M and 400 is the same as the 429 & 460.

Is the Ford NP208 the same round bolt pattern as the Chevy?

Tom Elliston at Sunray Engineering said they are the same adapters. He said he kept blew up his D300 so he swapped to a NP208 case. said it was a direct swapp.

And to think . . . AA and Novak ask $400+ for them! I suppose either way you need a spud shaft from them though.

i believe they are the same spline count and everything
