clocking/re-indexing BW1356?

Found a place that says there clock ring might work to clock/re-index my BW1356 on my E40D on an 95' F350 but the ring is 3/4" thick. The question is will the input shaft be long enough with the clock ring? They say there are (2) diameter splines 7/8" and 1" so you need the engagement to be 7/8" for the 7/8" diameter and 1" for the 1" then plus the clock ring diameter.... any thoughts on spline length etc?
