Anyway to tell what gearing I would have in an 84 Suburban without pulling the diff covers. Have looked for tag covers/ID and there are none like the dana axles I am used to. No mention of gearing on data sticker. Just says has standard rear axle. It is a fully equipped K20 3/4 ton with f350 4bblT700/NP208 and factory towing package. Semi Float 14 bolt rear. Was told they are 4.10's but am having doubts.

Probably 4.10s, but you can tell easily enough by jacking up both rear wheels, and then turning a rear wheel by hand 1 revolution and counting the corresponding revolutions of the driveshaft. 1 wheel revolution should yield just over 4 revolutions of the driveshaft if you have 4.10, etc.

It may have a sticker still in the glovebox with the diff info on it. But the best way is to remove the cover and get the #'s off the ring gear. It is only 2 and 1/2 qts of gear fluid and 20 minutes of your time, to know for sure.

Unless some body has changed them. I would pull the diff cover and count the teeth!

counting the teeth is the most difinative way but BUDTX mentioned the easiest way. Just mark the driveline and count how many times it rotates durring a tire rotation.
