I just got mine today compliments of Jegs via UPS. I plan to put it on this weekend. Has anyone tried one of these yet? I am anxious to see if it is nearly as good as the claims. I saw a thread about it a while ago, but it was not even out yet, so there was no info concerning actual drive time. If no one has it yet, I'll let you guys know how it does.

Uh, Yeah--what they said... I was about THAT far away from getting a "regular" crate motor and one of those Truck Avengers to stick on there, but I went with the Ramjet instead.

We Salute You:flipoff2:

isn't a truck avenger just a regular 700 cfm carb with off road needles and seats, a tube between the bowls, and some other doodads (see thru float bowls or something)

basically you're paying an extra $100 or so for this stuff here, right? i'm real sketchy on the details, so correct me where needed ;) :flipoff2:

It also has side hung float bowls.

Me wanna know real bad too !

Have to choose something for the 400...and it's this or the Edelbrock Q-jet....even though the stock 2bbl Motorcraft is supposed to handle angles well....I don't think it will be up to the task after the rebuild.

Those 2 bl Motorcrafts are the SHIT! My friend swapped one on his 258 and that thing runs smooth up School Bus and Helicopter Pad at Tellico!(very steep). I'm interested in this new Holley because I have a 4 bl. intake on my 360 now with a 4 bl. motorcraft and another friend of mine wants to swap a 2 bl. Motorcraft with intake for my intake so he can run a Q-jet. so if this Holley turns out to be junk I'll be running a 2 bl. instead!

If they are an extra $100 that is fine if you run the Holley it is going to cost you some $$$ to add what they did so I am not sure how much extra you ended up paying. I have always ran a Holly on my 231 v6 and for the most part it works pretty well. It isn't the best but after doing some of the mods that they did I am happy with it most of the time. From time to time I do flood it or it acts wierd but not that often and I get in some pretty bad situations often:D

as far as i know, they only come in 695 cfm. they'll probly have other ratings soon though.

here's how you calculate volumetric efficiency:

(engine cubes*peak HP RPM*volumetric efficiency)/3456=carb cfm

if you don't know your volumetric efficiency, just use .85 if you're naturally aspirated. that'll give you lots of squeeze room.

e.g., AMC 360

360*5500*.85/3456=487

so you could get away with using a 500 cfm carb (check out the motorcraft 2150s that come stock, they're about 450 cfm; that's cuz stock max HP RPM is 4400 tho...).

for a little extra oomph, just don't use the volumetric efficiency constant.

Holleys hang them on the sides, yes, the front and back sides. :flipoff2:

Supposedly good for 40 degree hill climbs, and 30 degree side hills.

OK25ton - unless your runnin 500HORS you dont need no 750cfm.
Most people over carb there engine.

The avenger does have the bowls on the side, looks to be a good change, but I, like Dean, have minimal probs. with a Holley thats been mildly "setup" for idling thru rocks - turn the float level down just a bit, go springloaded needle and seat, install "whistles" in bowls to grab air from highest internal point, extend vent (no need to loop it) and the best mod is to get an inline regulator and set it to 1lb for trail, and 5 lb for street.
This is a Holley 465CFM on a mild small block chevy.
Still curious bout the "bolt on ability" of this newfangled blender...

The carb CFM math has me scratchin' my head. It seems a little biased towards LOW cfm #s. I'm no engine guru (far from it), but my stock 401 w/ MC 2100 falls on its face at ~3250rpm. I ASSUME its the carb/intake that are limiting things, but I could be wrong. I'm hoping a Qjet and intake (w/ headers and exhaust) will allow the 401 to reach its potential. Am I missing something?
