Yeah cant do that. No sport in that. Hell I have to overcome a hunting w/ dogs issue first. Doesnt seem too "fair"

My hunting club has too many ferrel hogs. The last one that was killed over there weighed 400+ lbs. We had to use a hay fork to move the damn thing.

But, I wouldn't mind going on a handgun hunt for a boar.

My thought and technique when I lived in CA, though I used a traditional RB and not an inline. Cohort I went with uses a .54 cal Pertersoli Kodiak which does things up nicely.

Where in GA are you planning on hunting? S GA, from what I hear, the pigs are bigger, and are built more like domestic hogs. In the mountains of the north, the hogs are a smaller breed, with black fur(Russian breed?). I've been hunting in the mountains. Its fun, but to hunt hogs on a wma with a centerfire, you have to go during deer season- very short oftentimes. You can hunt during small game season with a rimfire though. We did that, but it takes quite a few .22 rounds to bring down a hog!

I think I've seen a thread here about hogzilla- if you're not familiar, google it. I don't think I'd want to go out after a beast like that with a spear.

Did you guys see the "Tred Barta" bit on teevee a couple of weeks back?

It was in TX, not GA, but they ran the hogs down with dogs and then stuck 'em.

They only caught little porkers .... teeny or no tusks there, but still enough to get a little adrenalin goin'

KAA - We just keep 'em in the confinement buildings here :)

We nailed 4 of them in 1 afternoon. 3 at 150 lbs while the bad boy weighed in at 425 lbs. Check out how he weighs down the back of the atv. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=223917&stc=1&d=1137016172

I took the big one with an Excaliber Exocet at about 10 yards. If you want a challenge and some true heart pounding excitement, use a bow or crossbow. Just be warned, these critters will hunt you while you hunt them.
If somebody can do something with that pic so you can see it better, please do.

Looking for Hogzilla Jr.?

Even Chuck Norris wouldn't go up against that thing with a knife.

I dated a local girl in Hawaii. The first time I met her brothers we were sitting around a camp fire, drinking HARD and they decided to go hunting (it was the middle of the night). So, being a hunting boy from Montana, I said 'sure'...had to impress the brothers!
So they get all geared up, and hand me a knife. A fugging KNIFE! I'm shitfaced as it is and was NOT about to go out and get myself killed by a fugging wild pig...but I had to do it.
Out we go, drinking more, torches, raising a ruckus and actually had a great (yet rather nervous) time. One of the brothers nabbed one...just heard some squealing and that was about it.

Would NOT do it again. :D

here's what you do: partially unwrap 2 taco bell burritos - heavy on the hot sauce - and sit in a busy corner of your favorite mall.

happy hunting :)

Hunt with dogs just once and you'll know that it's "fair chase". And take a bow or knife.

With regards to hog hunting, if you ain't right with God before you go, you will get right with Him at some point during the hunt.
