Inner Axle Shaft seal question

On a D44 which direction does the inner axle shaft seal face. Small end to the outside or small end to the inside ? Thank you for your help

it can only go one way right? i thought it was small end out.

It can go on both, but it makes more sense to have the small side out. I did not do the disasembly and dont have a Jeep manual. Thanks for the help

Anyone have a part number for the front std D44 inner axle seal (if it makes any difference, its for an 86 wago)?

I'm getting confused between 13165 and 13168.

Seals of this type only work one way. The side with the spring on it always is toward the area where the fluid is that must be retained.
