Been driving my jeep daily and with the header dumping the exhause right into the cars next to me I am getting a lot of people unhappy about the puffy black smoke going in their car :)

I don't have time to put on new rings, preferably I'd like to find another buick 225 to rebuild so I can do a quick swap but in the meantime, any tricks to cut down on the black smoke? Maybe I need a elbow to point the exhaust down, atleast for the road anyway

Black smoke = too much gas
White smoke = coolant leak
blue/gray smoke = oil burning.

Are you sure you don't need a carb rebuild?

yea I do :)

Sometimes it leaks when sitting I think cause it is flooded when I start it - just sometimes..

Thinking maybe a different carb would be better. Got tons of power, very happy with that - but it seems to be high maintenance - holley 2bbl

Gonna set up some cones and have some fun. Also gonna plan out a new rock garden at Prarie City..

Why do I need to bring someone who can't drive, don't I qualify :p but I've got family in town this weekend for E-bunny day, and can't make it to PC :(

What model holley is it? I'll try to scan a couple of pages and send them to you.

Bring em along, I do too :)

Sat is my Bday, woohoo

I'll check on the model, thanks :)

I am looking forward to watching someone drive my rig for a change, esp when that someone hasn't driven it before :)

Get yourself a Motorcraft 2100 carb. That's what I ran on both my 231 V6's and never had a problem. Got one of em off a 72 Ford van with a small V8... Very few moving parts and you can even run the engine at idle with the top off the carb. Great for setting float levels. I had mine set at 1/8" below factory setting to minimize starving and flooding when going up and down steep hills. Worked great... :D:D

is it a standard bolt pattern similiar to what the holley 2bbl probably is, or is there an adapter out there?

Glenn - come on out saturday!

Oh yeah, HAPPY BIRFDAY too... I'm gonna try to make it out to PC Sat. I don't think I can get the wife to drive but I'll try. She's afraid she might break something. I think she's just scared of looking bad in front of all us 'Pro's'.. LoL!!! :D:D

You have a 2 or 4 barrel intake??? One of mine had a 2 bbl and it bolted right up. The other was a 4 bbl intake and had an adapter. :rasta:

I think it is a 4 barrel intake but I have an adapter for the 2 barrel holly, should work I guess.

I just talked to Boner and he has a couple of the 2100 carbs and a rebuild kit you can have. He would like his fuel injection documentation back though. :D:D:D Says he'll trade ya. How's that sound???
