Cliffy [JD] 03-28-2002, 09:38 AM Is this something your shop could ship to me by the 13th?!?!
I need a u-bolt and spring plate kit for a 77 chevy 3/4Ton D44
or do you guys only do harcore shiat!!
RustoleumWhite 03-28-2002, 11:35 AM hey cliffy, if you want, I can run down to the local shop here and get a set, and send them off to you today.
I *think* they are $30, plus what ever UPS would be.
A Rancho kit like I used. You would need to fab your own plates though.... unless they just *happen* to have some around they want to give me (you never know).
Their easy to make, just copy the spacing of the u-bolts when you get them.
Are you using the stock Scout springs?? Then you probably want to make your own anyway with 1/4" strips to make up for the perch/spring differance anyway.

Cliffy [JD] 03-28-2002, 11:48 AM I can only pay with a credit card......is that doable? PM me if so.
tsm1mt 03-28-2002, 12:15 PM Is it really that hard to get U-bolts in Nebraska?
I can walk to Champion and buy U-bolts easy enough.. 'bout $8 each, give or take, depending on size and length.
Three 2.75" U-bolts, one.. 3.5"? U-bolt.. there, DONE.
NAPA has them, Champion has them.. I've never tried any of the other places
Ben W 03-28-2002, 01:03 PM Or look in the phone book for spring shops. Any spring shop should be able to make you whatever u-bolts you want.

TOM, You'll think this is funny. ....
1-I walk in to Autozone.
me: "Do you guys sell U-bolts?"
Counter idiot: (stares blankly for a minute) "You mean U-joints?"
me: (looking like no, stupid fu@K) "No, I mean the bolts that are used to hold the axle to the leaf springs"
Counter guy: (still looking stupid) H"mmmmm, I wonder what that would be under..."
ME: WALKING OUT THE DOOR!!
2- Calling Another local parts store
me: "do you guys carry Axle U-bolts?" (trying to be more specific in light of the first trial)
Parts guy: "Nope sorry, autozone might......."
Me: "Uh ok...."
3- going to Heilbruns (our "version" of a NAPA)
me: "Hi do you carry Axle U-bolts?"
Parts Expert: "oh yeah over there"
me: "sweet" (talking to next counter guy) "where are your axle U-bolts?"
Counter guy: "right there on the bottom shelf"
me: "damn those are big, got any smaller ones?"
Counter guy "oh, no; we only carry them for Big Rigs"
Me (pulling my hair out) "Oh I see.....":nuke:
So yeah snoop I'll give ya a call. ;)

Actually the one good farm store here shut down and was bought back up and isn't open again yet.
Anyway how about you buy those u-bolts for me, then come up here next weekend and help me...;)
jeenjer 03-29-2002, 08:55 AM what size are u needing? I thought the swap wasn't awn until the 13 of april?
Cliffy [JD] 03-29-2002, 09:32 AM It's not AWN till the 13th, why, did you decide to help?
The sizes I need are listed above in this thread.
jeenjer 03-29-2002, 05:17 PM I haven't memorized all the bolts used on 3/4 ton chevys...yet. Big R just has a wall full of them with none being vehicle specific so, if you want me to pick them up I need to know what bolt diameter, the distance from center to center, about what length you want, and shape, I'm assuming round instead of square, and how many do you want? Oh ya, and sorry there's no pink only black.:girly:
