Best leaf spring for a SOA? Hmm... Better check over on JU, I don't think anybody here has ever talked about that.

I would go with Rubicon Express Spring overs. They have a reversed bend in the eye so when articulating the spring does not go into a negative arch. They are also 2.5" lift so you should be able to run 37s. I run 35s with Spring over and stock springs.

Did you consider that the RE leafs that you mention are not all the same leaf width as the CJ's? Mounting them won't be a simple "swap-in-process" since spring plates, perch items, and spring hangers will need to be addressed.

It is also VERY possible that the RE leafs will go into a negative arch! BTDT every time out.

No, they are NOT 2.5" lift leafs. They are ~1.5".

On my POS SOA YJ, I run the RE SOA 1.5" leafs. When first installed, I still had tire contact with the tub/wheel wells while running 33" TSL's. I run 35" MT/R's now, and have made a few modifications and the 35's still make contact with the tub when running JV type trails.

the re leaves were designed so that negative arching would have minimal effect on them, and who cares if your 33's rubbed a little and now your 35s still rub?

YJ packs-with an extra cut main to help with axle wrap-cheap and work. Get an antiwrap bar from stage 1 (not an option)

Since everyone has been so helpful, I used JC Whitney HD 7 leaf rears on all corners. I run 35's on the street and it's very driveable. 37's would clear also. If it's a bit high take the overloads out. The springs are cheap @ $75 each and military wrapped at both ends. I am extremely happy with them.

Yep - knew that already. We (Mickey Thompson Products Inc at the time) started taking that into consideration back ~'79 when we developed several various specialty suspensions for Mickey, his son Danny, and folks like Walker Evans and Ivan Stewart who were part of our clientele.

Deaver makes the BEST springs I've ever used. We had an opportunity to visit their shop and watch as they fine-tuned a set of leaf-springs (http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/article/deaver-custom-leaf-spring-tuning/) for us. We also use a set of YJ-based 2" lift Deaver SOA springs on our CJ7 and they're fantastic.

that really is kind of newbie, don't you think?

there are something like 17 zillion articles about springs and jeeps (and non-jeeps)
in the known universe...

for my dough, i go find a rusted out wagoneer in the paper, use every damn thing that still works,
a little steel here, a few bolts there and some spring perches... super cheap wheeling at it's finest

i have never sold one damn thing to mickey thopmson, ivan stewart or anyone like that,
i just like to wheel and i got very little dough
my clientele are all cheap-@$$ bastids like me...
FSJ's (any variety at all) are the cheapest source of usable jeep parts
eagles are pretty good for cheap 904's with 23 spline flush outputs, too.....
