After having so much fun building my rear disk 60 I am thinking of building a 44

on my 60 I cut the ends off and put 9" ends in order to put on the car calipers n rotors for disk brakes and used custom moser shafts. Can I do the same thing with a HP44?

Is there a better way for a disk 44? Any probs using the bronco hp d44 diff for the rear, I know it has the trailing arm brackets or whatever, is that going to be a problem?

I'm not pro, but I've heard that RC 44 are pretty weak when used in the back of a vehicle, has to do with driving on the wrong (coast) side of the gear the majority of the time. You probably already know it, but if you look at a ring gear, you'll notice the teeth aren't symetrical, but have a steep side and coast side, when used in the right direction (ie standard in the rear, RC in the front) the pinion tooth drives against the flat side, and the coast or slanted side supports the load. A standard rotation setup in a front axle has the same problem, but since the front usually sees less weight and stress, they are usually OK.

I think most people will tell you that 33's to 35's are about the most you want to put on a RC 44 in the rear.

Of course you could build a RC 60, they have the same problen theoretically, but the huge ring gear really doesn't seem to mind. good luck find an affordable housing though...
