Front upper: As you can see, the bottom of the Ford tower is very close to even with the bottom of the frame, and the top of the mount touches the fender well. It doesn't look like there is much up travel, but it compresses the shock bumstop to about 1/2", and the up travel is perfect for me.

Front lower: 1/2" bolt, head cut off, welded to spring plate. I just used washers on both sides of the shock eye.

Rear upper: Spidertrax mount.

Rear lower: Spidertrax mounts welded to front of housing.

RRO front uppers mounted backwards and stock bumpstop frame mounts cut off.

Just got the film back today. Do you have any idea how hard it is to use up 14 pictures of film on shock mounts? LOL. Good luck! ~Steve

Actually, I have plenty of travel. ;) As you can see, the bumpstops don't have any paint coming off (from compression) like the front. It compresses great, too. Not much shock gets used up when they are mounted at an angle like that. But you're right, it doesn't look like much. :p ~Steve

How well do your shocks clear the u-bolt plates? What lowers did ya go with? I now that was a big thing when I talked to Brent. The lowers had to be mounted way outta the way of the u-bolt plate since they are so big and the shock would hit 'em. Looks good! :) ~Steve

Actually, I took a pic of my front bumper, my rock lights, Hi-Lift in the back of the tub, and how my Powertank is mounted. And yes, one or two more poor quality shock mount pics. :D ~Steve

Well, like I said I appreciate it. I am still not too sur what I am going to do for front lowers. If I go the way you did I will probably end up cutting the fender for the tower to be mounted higher and getting my travel that way. How much of the shock shaft shows at rest front and rear on yours?

I thought that would be a problem with the RRO lowers, because they mount below the axle on the stock spring perch. After I went to the Trail Tough YJ kit I was lucky enough to have leaned the towers back enough with the old suspension to clear the new spring plates...but it's real close and I might have to trim the corners a bit. I was going to relocate the lower mounts but with Toy axles going in sooner or later, why bother??

These were taken sitting in my driveway. It isn't compressed. I know it doesn't look like I have any up-travel, and that pissed me off at first, but once I took it out and flexed it, the bumpstop compressed real nicely. I like how it ended up. Compresses just right for me. ~Steve

When I ran the Fordyce Creek trail a few years ago I didn't have any frame mounted bumpstops on the front and just had the ones on the DT8000 shafts. On winch hill #3 I heard a pop and the pressure from the shock bottoming out broke the lower shock mount off the axle. Thank God Pat Grimillion(sp) was in camp with his on board welder to fix me up. I recommend frame mounted bumpstops unless you got some really good welds holding the mounts on.:smokin:

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into some other bumpstops after I get the toy axles swapped in. They are welded on pretty good, but it seems like "pretty good" isn't very relevent in rock-crawling. :D ~Steve

Doetsch Tech 8000's, model 8368 on all 4 corners. They are about 30" extended and 17" compressed, and I use all of it. :D ~Steve
