Here's the pics from when I went up to Spidertrax last week.

Their new rock buggy, the STX-1, with front and rear "Sidewinder" hybrid axles. 4:1 t-case, 5.13 gears, 1.6L, 35" MT/R's.

It was pretty cool to actually see these rigs in person after reading so much about them and seeing them in pictures. Tom was a really cool guy and loves those new hybrid axles. He hates toy axles, though. ~Steve

They probably hate them because they can't sell a Toyota axle for a grand a piece. Anyone know why they never gear their rigs very low? a 4:1 and 5:12's just wouldn't cut it down here in the hardcore stuff.

I was wondering the same thing when I read about the Arachnid. Maybe they are into that new fangled "rock racing" stuff! :D

He was saying that he wanted the buggy to be geared lower. He is waiting for Calmini to send a set of the 5.8's for them to test. He just hasn't been able to get his hands on a set of lower t-case gears yet. ~Steve

I only got the one. Sorry. :( And Tom made it sound like it was a customer's ride. I think his is 1/4 elliptical rear. ~Steve
