I have been running the ringr now for about 7-8 months and havnt had any problems yet. Very happy that I did the conversion. The toyota tranny and tcases are much stronger and with a G-series tranny the dtrain isnt much longer

The only major problem with the RingR and Lucky13 is shear cost. It's probably the most expensive way to get into the 200:1 range of gear reduction on a Samurai.
But it sure is fun when you get it done!

i love mine, and you will have a really hard time hurting the toy stuff behind a zuk motor... If you need a lucky 13, let me know, im going VW power in front of the toy stuff...

After collecting all the parts it went together quite well, never had a single problem with it...

Definatly worth the money if your keeping the 1.3L or using a 1.6L
I am using one in my buggy build. :D

I have been running the RingR for 6 years behind a 1.6L with twin cases and 4.7's in the rear case...........237 to 1 crawl ratio..............still have the original clutch in it from AutoZone ($28)..........Working like a charm!!
I know the thread is 2 years old, but hey....I searched!
Anyway, I am considering this swap, and want to know how you guys manage the high range with a zuk? I have a 1.6, and on 33's axles are 4.88's. How bad does high suck?

I usually run stock low in town (4:10's in the toy axles, 39.5 Iroks) and could run about 50 mph and when I hit the highway, I start in High-range.... 3rd gear max pull, 4th to cruise usually running 80ish MPH though... This was with the 1.8 VW engine though...
Thanks for the replies. I am trying to decide what i want to do. The biggest tire I'm going to run is a 33, just trying to figure if it will work. Those 1.3's just don't have much to em. At least I've been able to upgrade from gerbals to squirrels! Kinda wish i did the 4.3 though.

if ur going to put gear 4.88's in the toys, just go 5.29's and don't look back. If I swaped on some 33's my high range would be pretty good.
5.29's all the way!!! You will not regret it at all!

If you do the 4.3 4.10's would be fine for 33's. I love my CPI 4.3, Jim

Been running it for exactly one year now (behind 1.3 w/ WildBore Carbs) works GREAT!!!
Full install write-up in December 2007 issue of 4wd & SUV magazine...
Thanks, the axles are allready geared to 4.88's. So thats why I was wondering. If I was regearing, I'd for sure do 5.29's! Trying to do some sort of a budget build here. Kinda considering the kicker 2. It seems a bit cheaper. I talked to Scott yesterday, and it sounds like there is about another $400 in parts (clutch disk, clutch, bellhousing, machine work etc. Involved with getting the ringr to work.
