: Dana 60 steering arms
My steering arms just showed up today!!! Wahoo!!!
Now I just have to find the time to re-assemble the front end...
Custom arms courtesy of Anthony Bachman of the Sierra Rock Crawlers. I haven't installed them yet, but they appear to be top notch. Anthony was very willing to work with me on these arms. We traded numerous emails regarding requirements (Ford kingpin 60 running hummer rims). Ant was very willing to talk about the design of these arms with me before he actually started building them.
Ackerman angle, wheel backspacing, pitman arm length, stock steering arm length and tradeoffs between a draglink that connects to the rod end versus connecting the draglink directly to the steering arm were all considered.
A-1 service.
Scout Dude 03-28-2002, 03:33 PM Oh thank you thank you thank you.....Thank Gawd that I got my 60 arms from someone else....:smokin:

Scout Dude 03-28-2002, 03:46 PM I traded e-mails with Ant and he is a nice guy. But those arms still have lots of material that could be removed from them to save on weight...and it would still be plenty strong. There a little (actually a lot) ugly. I'd at least radius the edges a bit. That's cool that they fit Hummer Beadlocks though.
JMO...
seems scout dude woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, or maybe hes just bitter cause he drives a scout:) :flipoff2:

Ouch..that hurt my feelings:( ...Oh, wait. I don't have feelings:flipoff2:
Sorry, but I can be brutally honest at times:D
Actually, we discussed that.
It was my decision not to remove anything until after I make sure everything fits up right. Things will be clearanced after I see how much material needs to be/can be removed.
Oh, and the edges are all beveled. Not a sharp corner on there.
At that point, I'll polish them so they're as shiny as a wet waxed porsche. :flipoff2:
KAcrawler 03-29-2002, 06:39 AM are you running rod ends or ball joints? if you are running rod ends... that is a horrible design. from what i can tell, because the top of the nuckle on a king pin 60 slopes to the center of the vehicle and if you bolt a flat piece of steel to it it to will slope and max out the hiems before you even start to flex. You should chekc out the ones from avalanche, they kick ass!
I'm going to be running standard tie rod ends. I'm not a big fan of heims. Don't want to argue the merits of either here... that's been done to death.
And the drag link will be attaching to the passenger side tie rod end, not directly to the arm. Yeah, it's stronger to go to the arm, but that was a tradeoff I made between steering radius, ackerman angle and that slight strength difference.
doctor_G 03-29-2002, 12:03 PM Always someone to rain on your parade.
What did they set you back?
Is that a grease fitting orifice I see?

HEY MO!! I thought Ant did the arms for the CHEVY D60
I have a FULL SIZE 76 Cherokee and am going to be putting the D60 & 14 bolt under it. I already have 16.5"x7" steels with Rockstomper Beadlocks and will shoe them with 37" MTs. I want to go with the steering arms to correct the factory fawked cross over steering :barf: !! The ultimate aim is to make a D60 version of H8mondays D44 with the tie-rod behind the diff.
Can anubody help clarify who has the right arms for this or am I gonna hafta rig 'em up in the garage? I don't wanna end up with a HACKerman angle. ;) :rasta::laughing:

That's exactly what I am doing. The Tierod will be behind and the drag link in front--all above the springs. Ant makes the double arm that you need. I am having mine made by someone else though...~ same price. Ant's std arms are 230/set, 250/set for the double ones. When I asked about only buying 1 double arm, he said 130 for one. I just decided to go with a guy locally. After he makes mine, he is going to decide whether or not he wants to make more of them.
