Hi guys, My Silverado is leaking oil badly from the rear main, It has the 5.7 but not a Vortec w/ auto trans. A couple questions that I am getting the runaround on... Does this truck have a one piece seal or two piece? If it has the one piece seal, is there any way to replace it without pulling either the motor or trans? (Maybe remove flywheel and slide torque converter back just enough)

My Driveway thanks you in advance, Jeff

After '87 GM went to a 1 piece rearseal. My 95 chevy had a 1 piece rear main. There is no way I know of to replace it with out pulling the tranny (which is easier than pulling the engine) It's not that bad though, the last time I did my rear seal, I just pulled the tranny back about 3 feet and slung it between the framerails on 2 wide rachet straps. Replaced the rear seal, and clutch and then slid it back together.

Thanks Guido, thats a pretty good idea, and sounds better than pulling the motor
