I have an 88 Burb 3/4 ton with a 14BSF. I will never go over a 35 inch tire and it sees mild off road use. I see no need to swap in a FFer to add 200 lbs and lower ground clearance of the truck when I don't need the extra strength. However, I would like to have disk brakes in the rear. I did a search but did not find anything specifc to the SF axle. Can I do this by just using rotors an calipers from a 10 bolt and having a set of brackets fabbed up? Does someone already have a kit for this? All the info I can find on rear disc conversions applys to 14BFF or D60s.

Try using the composite rotors off a late model 4wd front disc. get some greatlakesoffroad brackets for a 14bff and modify them. seville calipers for an ebrake. have fun

1988-1991 K1500 front rotors...and I'd avoid the composite rotors as they seem to be prone to runout issues. Most, if not all, rotor manufacturers make an OE replacement that is a unicast design for that application. As long as you double check your stud length due to the thicker hat at the wheel mounting surface, everything should be fine.

Aren't K1500 rotors 6 lug?
For some reason I thought GM went to rear discs with the last body style change circa 1999. You maybe could verify this and find parts in a yard or new from the dealer ($$).
