I need insight on what you guys have used for frame preping/restoration. What worked best for you, ie: POR-15, Hammerite, 2-part epoxy etc...

My frame goes to the sandblaster next week, then the coating/sealing/painting begins. Post some pics of your frames, or rigs would be great.
Thanks,
Cheers,
Dan

I sandblasted my frame and then used Por-15, worked well, but I'm still restoring and haven't driven my truck since I painted it so I don't really know if the paint is as good as it's advertised.

I've painted some smaller items like battery trays, axles,... and stored them outside my garage for over three months, I live close to the coast and here in Belgium it rains 250 days a year, the paint held up fine, no rusting at all.

Make sure to remove all of the old paint, i painted my axles and I got lazy and didn't remove all of the old paint, Por-15 didn't bond with the other paint and peeled right of!

Another thing to consider when you use POR-15 is that it isn't UV resistant, so any painted parts wich are exposed to sunlight have to be topcoated with POR-15 Topcoat or another paint. If you don't topcoat it sunlight will affect the paint, and the paint will go dull and spotted.

If you use por-15 make sure that you don't skip any preparation steps, and DO NOT get paint on your skin, it will not come off, only if you use POR-15 thinner but that burns like hell! (learned that the hard way!) It will stay on for one week minimum.

If you are in Vancouver Canada, I would get it galvanized instead... Of course all frame mods should be done first.
