ok

i saw what i thought to be an 8.8 today under a navigator and then i checked an expedition and it also looked like an 8.8

they also APPEARED to have the CJ 5x5 1/2" bolt pattern

anyone confirm or deny this?

thanks

1997-2001 Expeditions, Navigators, and F-150's have a 5 on 135mm bolt pattern.

Also some Expeditions have a Ford 9.75 which * I THINK* does not have any locker support other than the factory Trashlock.

Ok, i'm pretty sure that all 1/2 ton ford utilities use the SF axle based on the Sterling (10 1/4) rear, but with a smaller ring gear (9.something), and shitty axleshafts. I guess if this is true, you could get custom shafts made up, put in a locker and R&P from the 10 1/4, and have a kickass setup. Kinda like a 60 SF. I don't think that anyone has tried this, but if you wanna do it, it would be :nuke: proof. Then again, I only actually saw one of these in a 97 F150, and maybe it is a :rainbow: 8.8. In that case, jus get a D44

I believe Navigators are all 9.75". I think the Expedition has both 8.8" and 9.75" depending on engine.

There is aftermarket stuff available for it, just a bit hard to find.

But those are gone after this year as well.
