Im going to be moving to the Tacoma, Wa area around the 1st of june, and I am looking into maybe joining a club. Or some people to wheel with. I have a 88.5 samurai with spoa and 33's, rear locker, and 4.16 case gears. Any info would be great.
Thanks

I would suggest www.2bigbroncos.org also. We are a family club with no dues, no monthly meetings, just good people on good trails. We have lots of different rigs so a Sammi would be very welcome.

Go to snort4x4.com, get registered on the BBS. If it's worthwhile knowing about in the NW it will be there.

Do that, and get on the nw4x4 mailing list. There's lots of stuff up here for your little sammi

Tacoma huh?

Trade your sammy in for good bullet proof vest. Otherwise it will get stolen, and you'll eventually need the vest.....ha ha ha ha.

yeah, check out snot4x4.com. There's a run almost every weekend.

Are you sure you really want to be living that close to Hooder?

and yes we are like #4 in the number of car thefts, hell, my runner has been stolen TWICE:mad2: but on a lighter note, there are a few different places to go wheeling within an hour or so drive. Hope you like wheeling in MUD:eek::flipoff2:

I try to wheel at least twice a month.

"TRY" is the key word there:D

Wheelinjp, We will be going wheeling at least twice in april and again in early may to test out the cruiser (this includes you). I haven't gotten to wheel in any snow yet this winter so I'm really wanting to go see how big a rooster tail I can throw with my 38s:)

Washington is a shall issue state concerning CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) permits! Good for 5 year to boot! At least mine is. Some good training and you'll fit in just fine!:D

An armed society is a polite society.

Might I suggest an H&K USP in 40 S&W sir?

We are moving as close to Ft. Lewis as we can so my sugar moma doesn't have far to drive to work. Any body know of a good nieghborhood with houses for rent? We will be there around the first of june. Of corse I need a garage, and hopefully a fenced yard.

Stay away from any town ending in ILLICUM. I am serious Stillicum, Tillicum, and Id try to steer clear of Lakewood. I would also stay away from Spanaway, and Parkland. You will most likely end up in Spanaway or Parkland, but there are alot of tweekers and theft out there. If you can find anything east of there. Try Summit, near Canyon road or that entire area of unincorporated Peirce county.Good luck.Acctually Lakewood is better than Spanaway so you might try there.

Hey there is no part of Spanaway that is worse then best part of Lakewood. And dont try and say there is, I lived in Spanaway for around 13 years and its has never been anywhere near Lakewod Quality! Parkland, Spanaway area you can find decent housing for dirt cheep usually with a garage. Id personaly try and stay away from the innards of Parkland it does get kinda scarry in that area. You wont have a Prob. with your Sammi. the kids out here like the little toy Hondas and Acuras and there just fun to park on.

We get $900 per month for rent, so we could a little over that if we had to. And I have two girls, in the summer only though.

Hey Dinger I've been on Fort Lewis for a year and a half now, and the waiting list for any rank is usually right around 2 years (Welcome to the most requested Army Post in the United States)
If you have some cash to spare look in the Dupont area for good but expensive clean housing, if you don't have a lot of cash then Lacey is the next bet if you want a semi populated area with a lot of stores. If your into Country then look into the Yelm / Roy / Mckenna area, lots of ranches and close to Evan Creek ORV park and Elbe Hills ORV park.
Dupont = 10 minutes from Ft. Lewis
Lacey = 20 mins
Roy / yelm / Mc = 20-30 mins.
All these times reflect the 0600-0630 PT rush, and gate passage times.

Na, went to IRC in 2000, it was great, and have talked to a few IRC guys, and its not going to be anything like it was, rather save the coinage for the trip down to cali...

Magoo, I lived in Sunnyside for a quite a while and understand why you would recommend concealed carry:D

$900 bucks a month...you are going to have alot of choices on where to live. Shouldn't be a problem finding a place that is acceptable.

Hooder, Fox Island? I thought you'd be more of the Ketron Island type:D

Tankota, no way! When? I have been here since '74, and I know almost everyone that speaks english. What were you doing here, not much work outside of agriculture? I was a foreman in a small machine shop, but I am back in school at CBC as per my sig line.

Yelm is a good place and you for what your getting in allowence Dinger ($900) you should be able to find something desent!!! I pay $750 a month and live just up the road from Safeway. In a newer town house. Speaking of that you can get your gas at Safeway ( I thought it was cool, but I did mover here from the Bay Area) I have not been out on any of the trails yet due to my Truck being down and out (Freaking rear main seal) :mad2: :( :(. I can not wait till it is up and running and I can go wheeling with all the great peeps here

Magoo,
I lived in Sunnyside from '73 till '87. Left before I went to the highschool. I rode motorcycles when I was there but didn't do any driving for the simple reason I was too young to drive:D
To put it mildly I'm not too fond of eastern washington or sunnyside...I just can't stand it. (No offense intended)

I understand. I spent 2 years in Colorado Springs, loved it there, another 2 years in Germany, not a bad place to visit, but this is where my family is. The kids need their grandparents and vice-versa, I need the help right now while going to school (single dad), and I have been here since '74 except for 4 years I spent in the Army.

After school I may leave, but who knows?!

I graduated in '89 and my youngest graduated in '92. Munson's not the cow herders! You would have been around Eric's age I think.
