91 YJ with 2.5l. Just got some waggy D44's and want to know what size gear to run. I have 35's right now with 4.88 and its a dog. I possibly will run up to a 37in. tire, don't know yet. Will 5.38's be too much for a 35 if I decide to keep them? Any help would be great. Thanks

If so, then 5.38's will put you back to stock gearing with 35's. If your going to go to 37's, then run 5.89's.

4.88s too high for 35s? my friend had 4.88s with his 2.5 running 35s, but also had an nv4500. i don't think 5.38s would be too low if you want to go that rout.

5 sp. yes. The 4.88's are really not that bad. Its just the hills. I can cruise in 5th on the freeway but have to downshift alot when any hills are around. So I guess its 5.38's then. I don't think I'm really ready for 37" anyway. Thanks
