I got an auto off a 2.0 if you want it. The trans. has like 25K on it. It's a two wheel drive trans. so you can still run the samurai t-case.

The easiest swap is a 3 speed auto from an older track/kick . You will need a new tranny mount and a shortened intermediate shaft . The tunnel will need some scissor jack action also .

Your headed down the slippery slope already! First you'll put an auto in it, then it won't have enough power so you'll want to do a 16v engine swap, then you'll want a SPOA lift and lockers, lower gears in the tcase, need a cage, bumpers, sliders, on and on and on... $6k+ later you'll wonder how the hell you put that much money in a sammy that was supposed to be a "cheap" project. Welcome to the club :D

then you'll want a SPOA lift
http://bestsmileys.com/lol/17.gifIt already has one of those..
& yeah , I've been worried about How epensive my cheap project will end up really costing me....
before I bought it I had already planned on Cageing it.
as for the engine swap .....I'm figuring more along the Lines of putting a Diesel in it when that day comes..
& teenycar ...
Why do you say being a 2 wheel drive trans allows me to run my current transfer case...
Would one out of a 4x4 require me to run the Donors cars tranfers case or something?
& Whats would be involved in swapping that into my Sammy?

Ok, Lets say I get the Trans from Teenycar...
What would be involved in this swap, beside taking out the bushing in the back of the Crank & adding a trans cooler & Auto shifter...
& does anybody make a shift kit for these trannys?
I really appriciate you guys sharing all your knowledge with me..:D

Have you tried searching at all?? There are SEVERAL threads that cover all the different options. Search for OTT Kicker3, Mudmonger, Auto tranny swaps, etc, etc. This topic has been covered several times in several different ways. Lots of good info, read through it and then ask more questions if you have them.

Well the auto trans. I have is a 4 speed rather than the older 3 speeds. The bottom bolt pattern on the trans. is different than the stock samurai engine. Trail tough makes an adapter plate to mate the trans. However if it were me I'd get yourself a 2.0 and get the power you will eventually want then the auto is just a direct bolt on. Anyway sooner or later they all end up wanting more power and the trans. I have will work with the later model engines. If you plan to use your samurai t-case which is a divorced unit from the transmission, using a jack shaft or short drive line to connect the two together. Get under your samurai and look to see what I mean. You can get the older 3 speed auto with a married t-case capability. The gear options are not as many for such a trans. at this time. Anyway I recommend using the search and using adanced search to see what is out there in the suzuki world.

thanks teeny....
So then it makes the most sense to wait & get an engine & trans together Huh?

check around your local wrecking yards for the 2.0 engine and/or transmission or call Hawk's suzuki for whatever you need. They are located out of Merlin, Oregon so you'd have to have it shipped but they have good prices and what you are looking for.

Simple, just select the section you want to run the search in. It is an option when searching:D

That's what I would do just to take some of the guesswork out of it. That way you know if you have a 3 spd or 4spd auto (if getting the kick/track stuff), you'll be a little more guaranteed of the mileage on the tranny, and you'll know it fits the motor (you be surprised how easy it is to get something that is "supposed to" bolt up and it doesn't). The 4 spd is also longer, so it does not work with the OTT Kicker3 (in terms of being able to use the stock samurai tcase mounts). If you don't plan on using the sammy tcase and only want to run the kick/track drivetrain then I'd get the 4 spd. The 1.6 16 valve is probably going to be a little easier to find and install just because that swap has been around longer and has more aftermarket support than the newer motor swaps. For the casual wheeler or daily driver on 33's or smaller I think that the 1.6L 16V has plenty of power to get by on with the auto.
Good luck with what you decide on, and once you get the hang of the search function you can learn alot from this board.
