I have a 98 F150 with a 4.6L auto tranny. I recently inherited it from my uncle who passed away. It appears as though he's lowered it 3" to make it easier for him to climb in and out of in his old age. I was just curious as to whether or not I could *SAFELY* tow a fullsize bronco (5500) on your average double axle flatbed if I get some load/air bags to lift up the rear end? Any other suggestions??

Thanks.

you can tow but your at the weight max. I towed my 85' yoda on 37's (4500lbs) fully loaded to the rubicon and back in a 97' Expedition with the 4.6L and it sucked balls! I was pushing the motor all the way and going up passes was way slow (like 40mph). Not something i'll do again and i was only getting 200 miles to the tank full. I would trade it in on a used 3/4 ton with at least a big block or diesle. That way you are set for towing a good long time and your not killing the truck.
