is one that is a direct bolt in for 84 - something models, and I'll bet it could be adapted easily to work with earlier models. Seems like it would be a helluva lot easier than "extending the front of the truck"
kevin carleton 03-29-2002, 04:31 PM well i already have a electric kick ass fan to use already have the 4 core rad and a 350 in my truck so to make it all work my last resort is to extend the front but thanks for the tip!
That is not your last option. You could put your radiator in your bed. Lots of mudders do it and it couldnt hurt your weight distrobution. There was a thread about this in Gen 4x4 in the past couple of days that told everything ya need to know. So use the search if you persue this option.
Also, extending front of truck would be a major bitch just to fit in a bigger fan or whatever... Id rather move the fawkin motor back!

To move engines back you have to cut and reshape the firewall which is no easy task, believe me I know from stuffing big block V-8's into Model A street rods. Now days you can just buy reshaped firewall for Street Rods. Oh and by the way TyTy it is an engine not a motor, motors are electric!!!!!:D

CWToyota 03-30-2002, 12:14 AM I have an easy solution... if your Chev Three-Thrifty distributor is hitting your fire wall you could just yank the engine back out and swap in a ford 302 or 351 (Distributor in FRONT) end of problems... I am using the 1991 ford 5.0 H.O. in my '84, just put it in tonight, no trouble... plenty of room for a radiator.:D
kevin carleton 03-30-2002, 09:48 AM well i have a Trekker so its a closed back and dont want the rad in side the cab, the engines is just about as far back as its going to go too..so has anybody done this?
Sllyfggtdixr4chix 03-30-2002, 01:18 PM I don't have any pics but..... I moved my radiator 3" forward when I did my ford 5.0 swap. I cut the cross-member between the framerails and welded in a piece of 4"x1/4" angle iron across the front and bottom of the frame and built a custom crossmember under the drive pulleys out of 1 1/2" tube, cut out the core support and welded in a 3"x1/4" strap to maintain the support. This also took out the hood latch....so I use hood pins. From the outside you would never know. Hope this helps you...I will try to get some digital pics and e-mail you soon.
kevin carleton 03-30-2002, 02:03 PM Hey Forota that would be great if you could get me some pics man, also with the hood pins is there anyway to be able to lock the hood some how?

I didnt think about firewall. Cant be that hard puss:rolleyes: :D :D :D
As for the motor thing...
"MOTOR:
NOUN: 1. Something, such as a machine or an engine, that produces or imparts motion.
2. A device that converts any form of energy into mechanical energy, especially an internal-combustion engine or an arrangement of coils and magnets that converts electric current into mechanical power.
3. A motor vehicle, especially an automobile: “It was a night of lovers. All along the highway … motors were parked and dim figures were clasped in revery” (Sinclair Lewis, Babbitt 1922). "
