I used one like that a long time ago when working at Avalanche. It worked OK but the jack has to be extended when you want to make a bend to 90*.
however, I have this one:

It works like a champ and makes quick bends. I had it about 8 years now and have had no issues with it. I don't use it for production purposes though, it's just to support my disease. It will make a bend to 180* in one pass.

How are either of those considered "low-buck"?

X3 on the lowbuck?
The die looks suspect to me looks like cast aluminium, doesn't look a well built/machined asn JD2 or Pro tools. If you are speding $600...Just buy a JD2 or Pro tools 105...

X4 on that!!! I got my protools HD with a 2" die set for just under $600
look for the cad file on the jd2 arms and have some cut them for you...then order the dies you want.

Lowbuck for Bill Gates maybe? I see alot of Protool 105's on this board. Any advantage over the jd2 model 3 I'm buying next month?

Yes, the arms have a captive bushing that keeps them together when changing dies, a nice feature when changing a heavy 1-3/4" x 240* die.

I have one similar to that, it's made by EZ tools, does 90 degrees but that's it. you can get over 90's by flipping the tub around.
They sell them on ebay, got mine for ~900 with 4 dies and air over hydraulic pump. works great!

You can mount a JD2 or pro tools 105 vertically also...or build one like this:

The M-Tech version of the JD2 model 3 bender has these bushings also...

At 510 $ I dont consider it to be a "low-buck" bender, although it does look cheap. I couldn't justify spending that much money on a tool that may or may not last. I just ordered my Pro-tools 105HD a few days ago. The bender, and 2" die set delivered was 735.

i borrowed one of these from a friend who had never used it, this was many years ago...bottom line it sucked. they barely bend 80 degrees. And to top it all off we put a piece of 1.75x.120 4130 tubing in it and pumped the handle twice and blew the die apart. I called and said whats up? your shit broke, basically the guy on phone asked what I was bending and I told him truthfully. His reply was well thats a pretty strong tube...so I said maybe you should put some limitations in your instructions...I then gave him my credit card number to get another die....bottom line save up your loot and get a jd2 or protools.
