Anybody have this set here?

It says it skips 12mm but I wouldn't think that could be right.. I only count 13 sizes and it is a 14 piece kit.

I have the standard and metric set. I got them on sale when they were like 16 bucks. They to the job. Couldn't imagine paying more for the same thing. They have held up and fit everything I throw at it.

i reread your first msg about the "I only count 13 sizes and it is a 14 piece kit."
i think the metal box counts as part of the kit...

I just use my craftsman sockets as impact sockets and if they break they get exchagned but I haven't broken any... stripped some yes, made it so they wont fit on the socket with a hammer yes.. cracked some yes but not on an impact. For $14 it may be worth to grab the sets.

Yeah, you might wanna do that before one of them shatters on you and takes out your eyes. I used to put chrome sockets on an impact until I was told that they could shatter. That $14 you spend may save you eyesight... or worse.

Chrome sockets CAN shatter... heres my understanding of it all:
Chrome sockets are chrome vanadium which is a slightly harder yet more brittle steel, where as traditional impacts are chrome molybdenum, which is more durable. Ive read that MAC sockets tend to crack when impacted.. I know first hand that snap on sockets tend to deform. Does this mean the MAC sockets are harder than snap on? Idk, im not a metalurgest.
Chrome sockets will "expand" and "deform" when impacted, so you can tighten a hose clamp around them to prevent this in a jam. I did it when I had to use a 12 pt chromie and It seemed to work (but knicked up the outside of the socket)
I cant bring myself to buy HF impact sockets... yeah, I know its a question of $$$ but dont complain about everything being made in china... supporting it all sure doesnt help.

Good info, and I do have some impact sockets I use for 'hard core impacting' but for taking shit apart time and time again I don't see a point.
Eye protection when impacting from now one for sure :smokin:

You should always use impacts because it saves your sockets... I have a few sockets in particular that have been impacted and Ive seen some that looked even worse... instead of a hex the socket begins to look like a flower... hard to explain but they fit like shit... the socket only grabs the middle of the bolts flank and they are so loose youd swear it was the wrong size. Trust me, if your using hard to warranty sockets liek snap on or mac or something, get impacts and save yourself $$ in the longrun

I've had some harbor freight deep metric impact sockets, they were shitty, they use the same OD for mutliple sizes so some were too thick and did not fit is some places and some are too thin and split easily. The SAE sized impacts are much better.
