Fellow Cruiserheads -

As word has started to spread informally about this event, the VA Cruisers
Swap Meet Committee has decided to release as much definite information as
we can about the event, although there are several decisions yet to make
about what will actually transpire.

The swap meet will take place on Sat., April 13th and carryover in some
fashion to Sun. April 14th. for those who choose to overnight at the site.
It is intended to be a regional event for Mid-Atlantic land cruiser owners,
with some vendor participation. We are extending a special invitation to
all the east coast land cruiser clubs, regardless of current TLCA chapter
status, and those individual subscribers to LCML who might wish to make the
trek to VA. This is not a sanctioned TLCA event, but it is being jointly
hosted by Capital Land Cruiser Club [CLCC] of NoVA, Virginia Land Cruiser
Association [VLCA] from the Tidewater area and Bay to Blue Ridge Cruisers
[BBRC], in central VA.

The swap meet location will be at John Embrey's place, near the hamlet of
Mountain View, in Stafford, VA. His mailing address is 873 Kellogg Mill
Rd., Falmouth, VA 22406 and his phone number: 540-659-2950. Directions are
as follows:

>From I-95 North: Take Exit 140 [Stafford Courthouse Exit] and proceed left
at end of ramp to intersection with Rt. 1 [approx. 1 mile]. Make a right
onto Rt 1 and proceed about 4 miles to the traffic light at the intersection
with Mountain View Rd. [There will be a sign for Stafford High School near
the intersection.] Make a right on Mountain View Rd and follow it about 5
miles to the hamlet of Mountain View [note: winding road with some sharp
curves]. At the general store [white bldg with gas pumps on left], make a
left onto Kellogg Mill Rd and follow it about 1/2 mile [past rescue squad
bldg.] Just past Tower Rd. you will see his house on the right and there
will be plenty of signs and cruisers around.

>From I-95 South: Take Exit 133 [Falmouth Exit] to the right and merge onto
Rt.17 South; follow Rt. 17 about 1-1/2 miles to intersection with Rt. 1.
Make a left at the intersection and proceed north on Rt. 1 about 3 miles to
the intersection with Mountain View Rd. [There will be a sign for Stafford
High School near the intersection.] Make a left on Mountain View Rd and
follow it about 5 miles to the hamlet of Mountain View [note: winding road
with some sharp curves]. At the general store [white bldg with gas pumps on
left], make a left onto Kellogg Mill Rd and follow it about 1/2 mile [past
rescue squad bldg.] Just past Tower Rd. you will see his house on the right
and there will be plenty of signs and cruisers around.

John has about 37 acres, so there will be plenty of room for everyone.
Primitive camping will be provided free of charge for those who choose to
overnight; portable toilets will be available. Please bring campstoves as
no open fires other than the event bonfire will be permitted; we have to
return property to same condition as when you arrived, so please keep your
campsite clean and use the trash barrels provided. Please camp in the
designated area only.

On Saturday the Mountain View Rescue Squad will provide food as a fund
raiser from on 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We encourage you to take advantage of
this service, as the food is good and they are also "on call" if any
attendee gets injured. All other food must be brought in and prepared by
attendees.

There will be an admittance fees of$5 per vehicle; plus $5 swap area
admittance; there will also be a $5 show truck contest fee if we have enough
interested attendees to organize same [this has not yet been finalized, but
further information will be provided as quickly as decided. There will be a
$25 vendor fee for commercial vendors who choose to attend and display/sell
merchandise. All vendors are responsible for registering with the state
prior to the event and for collection of any sales tax required.

Keep the ticket that you are given for admittance, as it will qualify you to
win the grand prize [not yet determined] at a drawing to be held at 4:00 pm
on Saturday. You must be present to win. There will also be a 50/50 raffle
to benefit the VA Four Wheel Drive Association at $1/ticket. Depending on
any other prizes to be donated by dealers or vendors, we will also offer
other tickets for sale for a raffle of these prizes, with the proceeds to be
divided among the host clubs to cover the costs of the event and to promote
general club activities.

There will be a designated area for those who intend to display, sell and/or
swap their parts with others. All vehicles with parts onboard need to check
in at that area when they arrive, prior to establishing a campsite if
staying the night. All parts and other goods, camping gear, other personal
property and any vehicle and/or trailer are the responsibility of the
attendee, and the swap meet hosts will bear no responsibility for the safety
and security of that property during the event. If you have a lot of
valuable stuff, bring someone to help you keep track of it.

There will also be a parking area for those attendees who will not be
camping or participating in the actual swap meet portion of the event. This
parking is included in the price of admittance.

We anticipate that a 20 degree RTI ramp will be available, which we intend
to construct from plans already acquired. Use of this ramp is entirely at
the vehicle owner's own risk. Other events and/or competitions may be
scheduled, based on the number of club volunteers available to organize and
run same. We have several in mind, but site and weather conditions may
preclude some from taking place. Details will be provided when we are
certain that a certain competition will take place, but be sure to check in
early the day of the event for updates.

There will be an information and music coordinator available near the
bonfire site at the judges stand near the mud bog area. Note: the mud bog
is operated by others and is strictly off limits for this swap meet. The
dozer that snatches out the unwary will not be operating that day, and you
don't even want to think about what it would take to get you out without
it...

We hope to have decals, t-shirts and perhaps caps available with the meet
logo on them for sale to commemorate the event. Prices not yet established.

Remember to bring your own tarps to cover your swap area, tents, vehicles,
etc in case of inclement weather. In the event that we get completely
rained out for the weekend [always a possibility in April !] the raindate is
the following weekend. But a light shower, high winds or other stuff, and
the show will go on! Also, warm clothes & sleeping bags, and all the usual
stuff may be required [did I mention it was PRIMITIVE camping???]

If you plan on staying the night, please let us know asap, so that we can
provide adequate space for all. Email Mike Fahey mike.fahey@va.prestige.net
with number and type of vehicles, number of persons, number of pets [bring
your own pooper scooper cause we don't want to have to clean up after your
pets, though they are welcome if well behaved] and any other info you think
might be relevant.

Committee, and you may direct questions to them if you so choose.
