As of now, I am running 15x10, 2.5" BS wheels on 37" MT/R's. I would like to install Rock City DIY beadlocks on a set of wheels with regular centers (as opposed to my reversed center wheels). The only reason I am not leaning towards the 15x8's is because I like the width my truck is now. If I were to get 15x8's with standard backspacing, even with beadlocks, the tires would be sucked way in. Now onto the options:

Get 15x10's with standard backspacing (3.5"?) and install DIY beadlocks

Get 15x8's with standard backspacing, install DIY beadlocks and wheel spacers

Another question, are 15x10's with DIY beadlocks TOO wide for the 12.5" wide MT/R's? Reason being, I don't want to be smashing bolts on rocks all the time :flipoff2:

I would think that an 11" rim (10+beadlock=11) is too wide for a 12.5 tire. Likely to lose the inside bead with that.

I'd run the 15x9 (8+beadlock=9) and only tuck your tire in by .5" Forget the spacers.

Anyone else follow my math here?

I agree. IMO, a 15x8 with the DIY kit will be plenty for a 12.5" wide tire. the 15x10 is just about max width I'd go on a 12.5" wide tire, with the DIY kit installed I think it will be too wide...

If you like the stance of your vehicle, check into wheel options with a different BS

Well that's the thing, I can't get wheels with reverse centers (less backspacing) otherwise the beadlocks will be useless. I guess if you figure standard backspacing is 3.5" and my wheels now are 2.5", thats 1" of difference on either side, then a 8" wheel is 2" skinnier than a 10" so really with the 15x8's and standard backspacing, it would be 3" skinnier on either side. Plus 1" for the beadlocks so it's almost like going straight from 15x8's with 2.5" BS to 15x10's with 2.5" BS. I guess if I don't like it, I could always stick some 1" wheel spacers on:flipoff2:

That would only be true if the backspacing on the 8's were the same as the 10's. Right now my 10's are reverse center so I can't put beadlocks on them and I'd have to get regular center 8's in order for them to be useful. Trust me, I wish it were just as easy as getting 8's, slapping some beadlocks on them and only losing half an inch per side. Ya follow?:D

Actually, you would have 2" skinnier on each side, minus the DIY kit. the 15x8 is 2" skinnier than the 15x10, but 1" on the outside and 1" on the inside, so your overall width will decrease by 2" on each side. Correct me if I'm wrong, its late.... a 15x8 with the same BS as your current wheels will give you 1" narrower on the outside of each wheel. Add 1" difference with the standard BS and you get a total of 2" on each side...

Add the DIY kit and you'll gain 1" on each side (minimum), therefore your overall width will be 1" narrower on each side with the 15x8 with standard BS with the DIY kit...

However, if you do need to move the tire/wheel away from the frame/suspension (will be 1" closer than your current setup) use a spacer if necessary...

I did the math today, no matter what you do, the backspacing is still going to be 3.5" whether it be a 10" wheel or an 8" wheel. If you compare the two, the only difference is that the outside part of the wheel is 2" wider on a 10". Add another inch for the difference in backspacing between 2.5" and 3.5" while you are at it. That gives you a 3" skinner per side measurement. Add another inch for the DIY beadlocks and you get roughly 2" skinnier than my stance now. Looks like I'll be running some small wheel spacers :D

Does that make sense?

I am running a set of 10" wheels with beadlocks with a 38 11.5 bogger and thay stay on just fine. so if you want to run the wider rim than do so.

Your going to NEED the spacers/adapters to keep your back spacing at 2.5" and go with the 10" wide (OK 11") rims and have the heads recised into the ring for bash protection

*edit: Nows your chance to go WIDER if you want :)

At 80" outside of tire to outside of tire, I might just go with the 8's to suck them back in. I will most likely be going with 8's and 1" or smaller wheel spacers :flipoff2:

So your more concerned with form over function right. In that case leave it the way it is.

Not even close. I'm just picky:flipoff2:

Go double beadlocks w/reversed center wheels.... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've "read" that some diy kits will work on reversed centers. I'd stick with the 8" wheels regardless unless you plan to run iroks or toyos in the future...

If you can see 40's+ in you future go 17's and save yourself some $$$.

Good idea but I'm not in the need for new tires yet :D I have thought about it though
