I've tried searching on this and only found a few threads with very little info. I'm looking to install a push button start system. I know that I need a simple toggle switch and a push button. Are there any specs on the type of push button or toggle switch or can i just Home Depot special it?? I'm gunna be driving the vehicle with this setup with some regularity so I need something that isn't going to break after 500 starts

go to autozone or ricer parts dealer of your choice and pick up a kit... under $20 with a neat little color lens so you can have red, blue, white button. comes with a relay and wiring instructions...
add a toggle to the power so it'll work as a kill switch/theft prevention.
I put one of these on my boat this summer and I probably start and stop the engine 200 times a weekend. held up just fine. they have one with a light under the lens for an extra $40.

Wires do scare me but I have the wiring diagram. I'm basically building a jeep to the point to where it is still "Street legal" but its gunna be almost buggy like. I say street legal cuz I have a inspection hookup:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

yeah i got the factory wiring digram for the 70's f150 and bronco model trucks, but it doesnt help to much. lol. so what i did was just ripped all the wiring out, getting all new wiring harnesses and swaping in the much button with a power kill switch. mine will still be street legal when done

I had a boss a few years ago who told me he and some college buddies used a doorbell button and a toggle switch on a beat up van.

I just went to radio shack got a little miniture momentary switch and wired it into my starter relay. I mounted the switch on my shifter with a little tab along with my line lock button so I can shift start and hold my position without letting go of the shifter
