I've installed a buick 3.8 into my 85 truck with approx. 2" of suspension lift. The oil pan (20 bolt) sits about about 3" above the axle - It will contact the axle before the axle bottom outs on the bump stops. Does anyone know of a shallower oil pan to replace the one I have?

TIA

can't help on the 20 bolt the 14 bolt i used was off a 85 buick riviera turbo shallow front with sump in the rear-maybe you could re drill-don't know.

isn't the 20 bolt on the front wheel drive efi motors?

if so what trans are you going to run i thought the bellhousing pattern and flywheel bolt patterns were smaller than the earlier 3.8s

The buick I dropped in is from a 82 Cutlass. While I was poking around the wrecking yard, I found 20 bolt pans for front wheel drives. These pans are shaped a little different and are very deep throughout the pan. Unfortunately, the 14 bolt pans are also shaped a little different than the 20 bolt pan that I have.

My solution for the problem is to modify the oil pan that I have. Unfortunately, I have to move the oil pickup about three inches towards the back of the pan.

FYI, I running the G52 behind the buick and attached the two with AA adapters. I had the motor rebuilt. It has a mild cam, and a two barrel dual jet carb.

so was the buick a front wheel drive configuration and if so i guess the bellhousing pattern is the same as the earlier 3.8s i thought it was smaller

Sorry, It is from a rear wheel drive.
