i'm putting a t-5 in a daily driver, mainly for the fifth gear, because the next few years are going to be lots of driving to and from flight school so i want the good mpg.
anyways, i'm completely tearing it down to check pretty much the whole thing for condition. i've taken the rear housing off and dissconnected the shift rail from the offset adapter, but the housing top won't come off. i've worked on plenty of trannys and they've all just slid off, but it seems as if the shifter forks for 1/2 and 3/4 are catching on something. it moves up about 1 inch and that's it.
i just want to make certain before i put a wrench under it and pop it off. thanks

so flame away on it being a t-5, i could give a sh!t, it was free and flight school isn't too conducive to wheeling anyways :flipoff2:

thats weird. The t-5 that I had to do a partial rebuild on came apart fairly easy. The top cover if I remember right has to be shifted from side to side and wiggled alittle to come off. There are forks which are connected to the cover via a shift rail connected to the top cover. It should come off.

ya, move it to the side, not straight up, i'll be right back with some better instructions

edit, i couldn't find it, but somewhere on the web (ie not pirate) is a PDF of the entire rebuild manual for the t5, not brand specific, i found it on google a few months ago when i was messing with my T5 the last time. if you find it, post it up, cause i kinda want to save it
