I was installing my Warn 8274 winch today and decided to mount it as far back as possible. So I pulled out the sawzall and started hacking, well I ended up hacking off the powersteering fluid line that runs in front of the A/C condensor. It must have served as a cooler even though it was only one bend. Is it necessary to have that "cooler" or can I just run a hose between the two pipes (it is the return line so not pressurized)? Or should I just plump in a tranny cooler or would that be overkill?

I used an oil cooler off a early Honda Accord, got it at PNP for 5 bucks.

what are the advantages of running a cooler on your power steer?
Does it make the steering work better or anything?
Mine just has the pipes running along the bottom of the radiator. I guess that the airflow over the pipes works as a crude sorta cooler.
Would fitting a propper oil cooler be worth it?
Thanks
Paul.
