Yah, communication with Joel has been spotty as of late. He's always out of town and such.
I will call roy up..
Thanks for the idea KC
If you go with U-Haul , dont tell them you are trailering a Scout .
They wont rent a trailer for a Scout . Try a Honda Civic or some other car . No trucks .

Yep, I did the same when I called Uhaul...changed my vehicle to "a Camry" so they didn't whine about it.

You could do what I use to do. Rent a 24ft U-haul truck and put it in the back. :D As long you are not over 7ft tall and 85" wide. I can wheel my rig right into the back of one. No ramps needed.

I thought of that. But the price for the miles is suck.. I got to thinking about how I could disconnect the speedo outside of town :p :cool2:
Too much hassle I think.
I will roll to glamis with trailer. And if I nuke something, one of my buds can tow me home.

How do you secure the Scout? That would surely make a fawked backpack on an emergency stop. :smokin:

Well, I bought them YEARS ago from a Guy just starting out his 4x4 shop. We all know him too. :) I took a chance and gave him almost $1,600 cash if I remember right. I purchased 5 tires and the spare has never touched the ground yet. I did run some Irocks and destroyed 2 of them running the Terminators. I was mad, but not nearly as mad as the Wife was. She was really really PISSED. :mad3: So don't bring it up around her.
The Boggers went back on. :shaking: They just don't go bad for me. They do suck on rocks though.
The truth is the rig is really hers. I built it to what She wanted. I was only going to run 37s.
I actually prefer my tear up Corvette though...

Have you ever been to the southern end of the Glamis dunes? Buttercup! Lot closer to Phoenix.
If you go into the dunes on the north side of I-8 near Buttercup off Sidewinder road to Ted Kipf road I beleive you can drive all the way to Glamis on dirt roads. Careful on big weekends as you'll find the prerunner doing 100 MPH there. I driven those dunes from Glamis to Algodones Mexico. From Buttercup we used to drive into Mexico for dinner and drinks then back out the canal road to the dunes. That was 20 years ago though.

I rented a trailer from Uhaul to bring my Scout from S. Illinois to the Detroit area in August. They were very nice and had no problems about the Scout. The girl was fairly knowledgeable - even asking about mods or not to make sure it would fit the trailer. Now - it wasn't cheap by any stretch though.

Hard to believe, huh? They don't even remotely grip anymore. I want my MONEY back! :flipoff2:
The spare still looks like new though. :)
After the Irocks bummer, I think I am going to try the PITbulls. Have you actually seen the 39.5s? My Wife doesn't want "her" tires replaced with something again that doesn't look as nice as Boggers.
We actually had a big fight over tires the last time and now she thinks she is right as far as tires are concerned. She thinks that Boggers are the ONLY tire that is worth a shit. She is right to a point where I haven't even had a flat on them since new. They are cut, badly, but not flat. :)

I'll have to pro-rate the old ones :grinpimp:
What ripped up the IROKs? You have me worried about mine now!
I donno ~ I wish the SXs came in 42" tire size ~ but they don't. I've seen standard TSLs work for long periods of time...take damage (lots) and keep going without complaint. I think I'd go that (TSL) direction if my IROKs leave me stranded.

Good you asked. I actually will post a pic of one of the little bastards. I guess if you run the easier lines, the trail is cleaner, but I do like the hard lines at times and have to hit them as my rig is too wide for some spots. That has not been a problem in Co. or elsewhere. Az, yes.
An example is the Anaconda trail. Right now I am at 84" wide. The canyon is 82".
With narrower tires and wheels I could fit. :)

Where the Iroks bias or radials? The radial sidewalls are junk but the bias are supposed to be okay.

28.5x15.50x22.5 with the double wrinklewall radial with the 30* diagonal kevlar steel reinforced triple bead. They pull double duty on my Vette also.
Snoop, pics of a rock off one of the Terminator. There is these little ridges that if you wheel over them, that are sticking strait up. Evertime I have wheeled the terminators, it has been wet too. I would hate to slip and fall down on these.
I guess I have the unfortunate luck of finding these.
This one is 4 1/2"x 2 1/2". I did wheel up there one time with a guy that I met there. He had a full width buggy and I had to ask if those were 42" Iroks. I didn't recognize them.
I honestly do not think you would have any trouble at all in Moab or Colorado running the Irocks.
My Boggers are looking pretty damn rough now after running these Az trails. :)

4,1/2" sharp rock Irok killer, that is what you are looking at.
Driveway? No, Pool area.
Co trails Vs Az trails? That is what I am here in Az to find out. :D
I use to live in Parker, Co. for a few years.
And Tx, Id, Mt, Wa, Ca, Ks, Pa, Oh, Ia, Ar.
Come on down. I can show you a trail obstacle that makes the exit at Patriot a cakewalk. I will not attempt it this one. :) I know I will eat it. I will DIE:laughing:
Yes, I have wheeled Patriot. A few Xs.

I will probably do Blanca the July 4th. That would make a nice Scout run. Work on getting a group together. :)

Best of the West ~ they are an XJ group that take a week off per year and runs the hard trails in the west. Its an invite only, and one of the buggies I built for Led was invited ~ or Led was invited, and we took the buggy I built for him (MJ).

It truely amazed me what some guys could do with these XJ/MJs. We hit Table Mesa first, then Florance Junction, then Quartzsite and Parker last. Was a lot of fun. There were a few guys there that were a little under equipt, it'd be nice to make the trip with less people, but fun all the same.

Blanca eh? Hum. May have to go for that one, but while I"m there I wanna check out another place. There is a new*er* trail down there. The 'Granite Quary' trail. Its a bunch of mounts of granite. Freakin sick. Indy type stuff ~ I can't wait. Led and I saw a writeup on the trail in a mag (4WDSU) and can't wait to go. Picture a big field with piles of Granite dotting the land. A stock rig can drive pile to pile, or around, but the piles get nasty in some places.
I'll see if I can find some pics of the place.

That Az trip you did looked like a lot of fun.
I actually enjoyed wheeling with the the Sonoran Desert Scout group this last time. Some old stockers up to some nicely built Scouts. They are not afraid of throttle and body damage either. I was cringing for them. They made me look bad since I was driving like a Puss. :D I am enjoying going out now for the 3rd time strait and the only issue I had was a shock that came loose. It helps to drive like a wimp though.
Let me know about that other trail. I may want to hit it if I have time.
