I need a new long block 3.0 v-6 for my 88 4runner. I was told by one of the engine houses that sells those 30K jap motors that 1988 3.0 v-6's are the only year motors that will bolt directly into my 4runner and none of the other year 3.0 v-6 89-95 will go in. Is this just a matter of swapping motor mounts or is there really a difference?? They even charge less money for the 1988 4runner 3.0 motors than they do for the other years. If anyone knows of a good place or any place for that matter to get one in the bay area, ca please let me know. Thanks

put a motor from a 91 4runner into my old roomate's 88 truck, bolted right in, just used the motor mounts from the 91 the difference is in the mounts themselves and how they attach to teh block ;)

So the motor mounts and intake and everything will bolt right up? Do the injectors need to be changed? Are the 4runner motor mounts different than the trucks? Thanks for any help

I second what DSI said. I also think that you can use other years as well.

Oh, and redline... change your username. "Red Line" has negative connotations in Toyota-land. ;) ;) ;)
